    Intel price drop coming :)

    Within the next 6 or so months it looks like intel have a few nice surprises up their sleeves, in the form of new chips and new cheaper prices.

    Think i might wait and see how AMD respond to this with their Barcelonas.

    Full list of prices:

    Don't you just love these marketing games:

    Intel win on performance so can get away with offering average prices.
    AMD cant compete as well in the performance arena so go for competing on price - knowing that you can get an EnergyEfficient dual core AMD CPU and a half decent mobo for the same price as a 6300 is pretty impressive.
    Barcelona may make AMD more competitive in performance, but Intel lower prices and the cycle continues...

    Competition is great for pushing the industry forward and drive prices down. Everyone wins (apart from those that get exploited in a third world countrys somewhere and probably the environment too..)

    The way i see it is these two can fight over the global market share as much as they want. If prices keep falling then im happy.

    If AMD have a similar agressive pricing strategy for their next line-up then it should make things very interesting.

    The E6750 looks like it could be the best deal.

    If Intel had no competition, we probably wouldn't have the great processors that we have now. It's all well and good for a bit of competition, even though i doubt i'll eveer be buying an AMD.

    I'm sure people would have said the same before A64 was released... and then people would have doubted wether they would buy Intel CPUs again... and now, well Intel has the performance advantage for sure BUT AMD are still offering decent prices for processors that arent terrible (you build a deecnt htpc using a EE X2 3800 and a nVidia 6150 based mobo for less than the price of aE6300).

    Oh no doubt, i have nothing against AMD, they make good processors at cheap prices, but i just feel more comfortable using Intel products.

    It certainly does, though the Q6600 would give you much more bang per buck

    Main Rig -> J&W RS780UVD-AM2+ | AMD X4 9750 | 4x2GB GieL PC2-6400 | 2x500GB (md-raid0) | Sapphire HD4870 | Gentoo (AMD64)
    Server Box -> Asus P5B-E Plus | C2D E6320 | 2x1GB OCZ PC2-8500 | 4x500GB (md-raid5) | BFG 8800GTS 320Mb | Gentoo (Hardened/AMD64)
    Test Box -> P4E 3.2Ghz Rev. E0 | Asus P4C800-E Deluxe | 2x1GB PC3200 | 1x500Gb | NVidia TNT 2 | Gentoo (X86)

    Well I suppose it would, and you could overclock it to E6850's 3GHz quite easily I think, but it would get pretty toasty then. I prefer silence.

    By the way, what do last letters 'jt' in your nick mean?

    Looks nice for that price. But then i need a new mobo and ram, so it's not really a good idea.

    Waiting for K10.........

    You'll need a new motherboard and ram for K10 anyway.
