| Hi again ![]() I've been running for a few days at 3200 (8x400) with no problems.....until today. I was doing something that applied a bit of load and my pc locked up (screen went into standby). I had to do a hard reboot, started doing something again that applied a bit of load and it locked up again, this time with the image on the screen frozen at the instant it locked up. I've been into the bios and dropped the cpu down to the automatic settings for my E6600 of 2400. Back to windows, start Orthos and after 10 seconds it stops with the error 'rounding was 0.5, expected was less than 0.4'. It also locked up at that instant. Any ideas? |

| Has developed fish hoof. | Was it stable for 12 hours previously? When you say you applied a bit of load, what was it? Have you been messing around with the ram settings? Please put your full system details in the "my system" bit, or your sig. |

| Great guide Clunk . Been having a go at this on my E 4300 . can't get ct 0.95 to run on my machine but 0.94 works ok . Was'nt happy with difference between ct 0.94 and tat so did a bit of 'rootin about' and found out that E4300 comes in 2 flavours t junc 85 and t junc 100 and to find out which one you have this guy came up with a wee test == set mult to 6 *200 and check ambient . ct should be within with within 2 or 3 degree's of this if t juncion 85 - think my one is t 85 now doing 12 hr run on orthos ( six hrs more to go ) . see screenie so far ( thanks to Chucksk[IMG] [/IMG]ull and others ) |

The load I was running was three clients of an online game, firefox and a spreadsheet (but I think that becomes irrelavent as Ill explain). I haven't been messing around with the ram settings. All I've done is set it to the quoted settings of 4-4-4-12 at 2.1v. Anyway, to update, since my last post things rapidly became less stable to the point where my PC would lock up under no load (just on the desktop, no apps loaded), and sometimes wouldn't boot at all....not even as far as the bios. This morning I swapped the cpu out for my old P4 3.2......still did it. I then swapped the video card out for my old X800pro..... still did it. Next I removed one of the sticks of ram and so far its been fine ![]() So hopefully I've pinned the problem down and it's got nothing to do with the overclock. I'll run memtest on each stick of ram to try and confirm this, then send it back I guess. Anwyay, I'll leave you in peace now as it appears to have nothing to do with the overclock, and I don't want to derail the thread |

| really quick question, sorry for bothering people. but has anyone noticed a difference overclocking when you have 4x1gb sticks of RAM (ddr2-800 corsair/ocz) compared to using only 2x2gb sticks. its just that this does change things a little with regards to my planned upgrade. |

| Has developed fish hoof. | The Nvidia and ATI chipsets off the unlinked overclocking, but the intel chipsets dont. |
