Hey, thanks for the guide. I'm not using an AMI bios though, so I'm a little lost.
I don't want to do anything too extreme, but I'd like to bump my E43000 up to 2.4Ghz. How do I change the FSB setting to 266Mhz on an Intel board? It's a D945GCL, and I know it can run with the FSB at 1066, but I can't figure out how. |

Ok well I have the new system sorted now so Im ready to OC. I have the TR Extreme but have left all the standard heatpipes on for now, it took me ages already to get this far as I started with a pile of boxes. Theres plenty of airflow around the mosfets as the TR fan blows over it, which also sucks air over the Ram. So do u reckon it will be cool enuf to give it a try, I have flashed to latest Bios already after formatting the same disk about 20 times, gawd I hate floppies

Yes, but set orthos going overnight, or for around 8 hours at stock speeds, that way, if there are any other problems, you know its not the overclock. Always best to start with a stable system

Good plan, at least Ill know if things are ok, the only thing Ive changed so far is the timings for the Ram and the voltage which I set to what they shud be, hopefully I put them in the right order, I started at the top and went down 4-4-4-12 so hopefully thats alright and I left the rest as they were. Ill do Orthos tonight and see what happens

Another thing I didnt mention is about cable mess. Try and keep the cable mess to a minumum, so that you have decent airflow through the case, this will help with the overclock when you get to it.

Ok something real weird has happened to my setup , i was scoring 9777 the other day on 3d mark 06 but was having problems with the internal wireless on the p5b so decided to switch back to my internal pci card for wireless. Only prb was, only spare slot was one half covered by the 8800 gts so the card was blocking some of the grooves to let out air on the front of the card, would this cause the card to overheat or anthing ?
When i went to load up 3d mark again my score was 3978, half of what i was getting before. Something is obviously cocked here, had a look and all the gfx tests are running ridicously low (20 fps opening scene when i was getting 65 before) Now this is an overclocked system so could something be to blame there. Also i reseated the card it worked back as normal then next restart went to cocking up again. Any ideas ? |

Boot to windows, open cpuz, check the pci-e link width. If it says 1x, go back to the bios, and up the pci-e frequency from auto to 110, boot to windows, and check again with cpuz, it chould have changed back to 16x. You can either check for stability using the 110 setting, or restart and chage it back to auto.
