| Ahh clunk, top stuff dude. Thank you I was going in somewhat blindly in my OC'ing (not really knowing what vcore to set etc). *tips hat* Want a beer on me? ![]() I've hit 3.1ghz @3.125v coretemp - 45C idle 55-57C load (a bit high for an artic freezer 7 pro ) but asus probe states 39 idle and 49 load. Its quite a difference. |

| Squirrely | I am going to go to uni to do computer animation next year and am in process of buying my new computer (sig for details). obviosly some gaming too ![]() Will it be better to OC an E4300 to a medium level (2.8ish) or just to stick stock and get an E6400. Was planning on OCing but have had doubts ![]() im not sure on the consiquiences of OCing, and therefore am worried that messing with CPU and RAM whilst going to do a pretty demanding computer wise course may be a bad idea? | Has developed fish hoof. | If you are doing the course next year, you are better off waiting to see what is out nearer the time I would think. C2D's are due to drop in price next month apparently |

| Has developed fish hoof. | In that case, looking at the parts you have, it would be criminal NOT to overclock it. If you are worried, set the voltage manually to something like 1.2v or 1.3v and see how high you can go with the FSB. The temps wint rise because the voltage will stay the same |

Mine will go to 3.1 at stock, and it;s not an especially good clocker. |

| Clunk you are to be applauded. This is a great piece of work and you have clearly put in a lot of effort to the benefit of others. Thank you and well done. I have a lot of computer and network experience – from running mainframe data centers to thousands of networked PCs to small home networks, but I have virtually no successful experience of overclocking. My attempts with my Athlon 3200+ with an Abit NF7-S v2 were hugely disappointing – so I gave up and just used the machine as a work-horse. I build quite a lot of PCs for people, but just build them neat, and run them at stock. I currently run my ASUS Commando at 3G – all I have done is up the FSB to 300 to achieve this, and it is rock solid. Given all the problems reported with Commando’s on this forum I decided to stop and push no further – however your guide has given me the inspiration to push on a bit more….. Thank you again Clunk Try to make each and every day the best it can be. |
