I've hit a wall at 300 FSB for some reason with a AB9 Pro. Have ran 1:1 on RAM, just no go at all. so my e6400 is sitting at 2.4GHz, am running RAM 2:3 so RAM is at 450MHz 5-5-5-15 at 2.1v. Have tried increasing voltages etc to no avail. Any recommendations on what to do?

Run memtest on each stick for about 6 hours, in all available slots.
Did you disable all the cpu stuff and all the stuff thats listed in the guide? Might be worded slightly different for your board

Clunk, as my memory is only running at 720, wud it be safe then to tighten the timings a tad? I saw some Team Xtreem ram that ran at 4-4-4-10, my corsair is rated at 4-4-4-12, so with the underclock do u think it cud manage 4-4-4-10? Or is there a better timing to change to give games a little boost?

Cheers Clunk.
Just a wee not to say I've got my new E4300 wunning at 3060Mhz (340 FSB & x9 multipier). It's about 42 degrees celcius idle but gets a little bit hot - slightly over 60 - during the Orthos stress-test. All seems good though, and I've configured SpeedFan to automatically adjust the CPU fan speed. Excellent thank you. Just what I needed. Vista experience score went from 5.3 to 5.5 with no problem, although I know that this is not the be all or end all but it is because I can!!
Thanks Tom

I'm afraid I have no idea where to start with that motherboard, maybe you could post some links to some bios shots and we can have a look and see which ones to change, but cant promise anything, sorry

its me again.. with yet another question about theese FSB.. i see that many of the new, if not all, P35 motherboards has a rated fsb of 1333 mhz.. now, if i were to put a e6600 on this motherboard, wouldnt the clock speed be 333x9=3ghz?
yet, the cpu is sold as a 2.4ghz, why is that, when the actual clockspeed is based on the motherboard? please enlighten me

No, it will just run the CPU at whatever it is supposed to run at, for the e6600, this is 266x4=1066fsb.
There are ways of modding the cpu to run at 333fsb, but its pretty pontless, when you can pretty much always hit that speed anyway, without invalidating your warranty by modding the underneath of your cpu

so whats the difference between modding the cpu, and overclocking? i thought overclocking was just that, making the fsb, and thereby the cpu faster..
will it be easier to get a higher overclock on a p35 board, rated for 1333mhz? |

I worded it wrong, sorry.
And form of modification or overclocking voids you warranty. To mod the cpu to run at 333fsb, you have to add some conductive paint to the contacts on the underside of the cpu. Doesnt work for everyone, and doesnt work on all CPUs and boards. You also need to make sure that your cpu can absolutely run at 1333 at its rated stock voltge. |
