Is it possible that a P5NSLI doesnt even boot at FSB frequency higher than 275MHz? I've tried feeding the CPU with 1.425 volts, still nothing... Im really disappointed

Yes i have, but its not my board, its a P5N32, which is much more overclock friendly I've read some reviews, and it says everywhere that the P5NSLI is a poor board overclocking-wise, and that most people couldnt go much over 3.0 GHz... However, I haven't even been able to reach 2.5

Well, I'm not sure about that board. I think you will get more people replying if you post in general hardware

Sounds like the RAM isnt at 1:1 to me. And AUTO for the RAM voltage, will just give you 1.8v. I know that you say easy tune is reporting 2.1, but what does the bios say? Are you overclocking in the bios or with easy tune?

Re: C2D Overclocking Guide for Beginners

According to cpu-z ram is 1:1 and im useing bios for overclocking not easytune i use it for varios readings and also in my bios with voltages set to auto i cant tell what the voltages are unless i boot to windows and take a quick peak at easytune or something like cpu-z also here a pic of the few settings ive changed

After messing around in the bios abit i made a few changes that seems to have completely resolved my problem Also my ram voltage is 1.9v core 1.33 Also my temps have went down by 10c

Oh and thanks for the guide clunk,

Re: C2D Overclocking Guide for Beginners

Well until i can get my pics up and running can someone just tell me if the following temps are ok.

I am running Orthos on the stresscpu - stress CPu with Gromacs core and i am using Everest to measure the temps and i am getting the following reading, oh i am running an E6600 @ 3006 Ghz.

At idle i get the following temps. (in oC's)

    Motherboard 36
    CPU 35
    Core 1 30
    Core 2 32
    Dimm 33

Under the above stress test i get the following.

    Motherboard 37
    CPU 57
    Core 1 53
    Core 2 53
    Dimm 33

I ve ran the test for a number of hours and it seems fine, was going to try some more OCing but i don't know what the max temp for the cpu is and which temp do you use to read this. I tried to under stand the Tjunction stuff but it hurt my head and is it worth pumping it a bit more or should i be greatful with 3ghz.

Thanks in advance to anyone that replies.

i Oc my bros e6300 up to 2.1ghz using a stock cooler and on idle its around 50c and on load the highest i found is 71c.

are they ok temps for a stock cooler or should they be a lot better?

My E6600 is 110% stable at 2.92GHz, but if i stray over that, at ANY Vcore (0.3V more than i had before) and it still isnt stable! I tried taking the speed up to 3.4GHz incase it might be a FSB hole, but it crashes when Orthos starts running...Im wondering whether the CPU FSB needs to be increased from 1.2V... any hints?

seemed to have hit a wall after going much over 300 with x10 miltiplier. so ive raised my bus speed to 334x9 with rated fsb of 1336 vcore is still the same 1.3v ram is 1.9v temps are the same as before holding good now i dont wanna go any higher with my core speed which is 3ghz im still on stock cooling but i would like to push my bus speed up to 400 mhz after all im useing pc6400 Effective Clock 667 MHz im going to run tests now to make sure everything holds up any suggestions? whats odd tho is CPU #0 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 4400 @ 2.00GHz, 3340 MHz
    CPU #1 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 4400 @ 2.00GHz, 3340 MHz
In windows and in everest core speeds show up as 3.3ghz but in cpu-z it shows up as 3ghz?

on a stock cooler with just the fsb increased to 300 to make the e6300 go up to 2.2ghz with a load temp of 71c is that good enough on a stock cooler or should it be alot more cooler?
