    Hi EtheAv8r
OK I have just ordered an abit AB9 Quad GT....
Hope u got the today only £

think it's just your cooler that's holding u back, will almost certainly be the same on the quad. I've been halting at 63C as well but the Zalman CNPS9500-AT got me to 385. Seems the new Thermalright ultra will give a bit more.

As i said i plan to go water cooling , maybe this board should be the marine tather than the coomando.

Anyway hope you enjoy your new abit
    luck

Indeed I did - I saw it on Today Only and thought "it is clearly meant to be...." Also ordered a 4300 to put in the Commando for my daughter.

Funny thing, since I ordered the abit, the Commando has been good-as-gold at 3.3.....

I have not ordered a cooler for the abit yet........

Try to make each and every day the best it can be.

4300 is a good choice for your daughter, guess you may need to test it???

The Commando is now looking rather good now I have ordered the QuadGT....The RAM Voltage tweak has made a huge difference - now set to 2.15 in BIOS.

Have run Orthos for over 2 hours... running hot; as high as between 64 and 69/70c with the case side on, but 59-64 with the case side off.... but stable.....

Have not sussed how to paste screen shot here.....

But running 10*330 and lokks like it will happily go better.... need better cooling!

Nice going EtheAv8r a decent swan song??

As your both on arctic cooling there is still some improvements to be had with better air cooling if you want it. this is a useful chart of what's possible Anantech CPU Temp(Delta) As these are delta add the ambient room temp to the value. The test platform is Intel Core 2 Duo X6800 so our's should run cooler. I would think there is the potential to get maybe up to 8C cooler or faster dependiunfg if you want to OC the drop.

As i've seen i have gained 5C & am testing now at stability 3.5k , which i've been running all day, without issue. Got 5.5hrs orthos last night b4 failing vcore at 1.5v trying 1.5125v tonight. Memory is only at 1:1 till i have the cpu stability thaen will get that back to 4:5.

Appreciate it is a bit difficult to choose between a new air cooler & water cooling. you can easily spend £45 on a top end cooler & fan, but it's easy & almost immediate(assuming u don't get a faulty 1). Water cooling is a major shift
that needs planning but also brings added benefits of lower noise as well(which the wife will appreciate )

The Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro is supposed to be SO good and effective (the 64 on AMD is great) according to so many tests and reviews (and Custom PC) I wonder if I have a not-so-good one?

At only £13 I may simply buy another from SCAN, and then if it is better, RMA the original? Otherwise it seems to only other realistic air option for a proper improvement is the TUNIQ Tower 120?

    Hi edmund,
yes i think they are a good cooler , great value for money,. But having said that it's perhaps like comparing an a nissan micra with a bmw, both great cars for their markets but there's only going to be 1 winner in raw performance. But the price will be more in terms of £ + most probably noise.

probably the best cooler that can offer good performance & opportunities for quieter options may be the Noctua NH-U12F CPU Cooler & NF-S12-1200 Fan Scan sell it though i think the Tuniq Tower 120 may be cheaper. May be worth while doing an rma for the arctic but postage will probably be 50% of £ of a new 1.

The Zalman CNPS9700-NT is also good + has the advantage of having the 4 pin intel fan header for the mobo.

the scythe products are also good.

    luck

    Thanks Chris

The Noctua NH-U12F did not cool as well as the ACF7 in the current Custom PC Lab test - though I have just taken delivery of 3 of the Noctua 1200 case fans to replace the ones supplied with the Antec P180 - to see if they can shift sufficient air quietly... the supplied Antec ones are quiet at low, not so quiet at mid, and quite noisy at high - but reduce CPU temps by 4-5c in Othos.

Zalman CNPS9700NT was no better that ACF7 in CPC Labs but 4 times the price...... Tuniq Tower was only unit (apart from Titan Amanda TTC-NP04TZ TEC cooler at £65) that was significantly better than the ACF7. At £65 I would have to be considering water.....??

If I get a Tuniq Tower, I would like to replace the stock 120 fan for an Artctic Cooling 120 PWM 4 pin fan.... if I can find anyone who sells them in UK. The ACF 7 92mm PWM 4 pin fan is not so noisy flat out, and silent at low speed.

Try to make each and every day the best it can be.

Just checked last nights orthos failed just after i got up 8H 26m had coretemp running with a clean log average temps over run = Core0 60.2C Core1 60.0C Avge 60.1C which is pretty good at 1.5125v(bios) vcore 389x9 will try an extra notch up tonight

Artic Cooling are available from Yoyotech Aria and Vadim
The ones at Yoyotech and Aria are the 38.5 mm the Vadim is 25mm.

The 25mm according to Vadim does not have the PWM sensor 3 pin connector. However when I checked the Arctic cooling website it states it does?

Thanks drat but we're talking about fans with connecters to fit 4pin intel compatable Mobo plug

The few 120 fans are made by Artic Freezing & include Arctic Fan 12 PWM

Thanks DratUK but the ones available in UK are the plain AF12025 without PWM http://www.arctic-cooling.com/fans2.php?idx=81 I am after the AF12025 PWM which is the link you kindly posted.

Arctic cooing use the same part no and add PWM to the end of the one I want...

My only gripe with this board is that between uGuru and coretemp there is a 10c difference which is quite bothersome tbh but apart from that fine.
