help Foxconn N570SM2AA-8EKRS2H seesmy ram as 603mhz
i have 4 gig of Corsair XMS2 CM2X1024-5400C4 the problem is its only been seen as 603mhz. (with cool and quiet on it drops to 400mhz but i know that is saving power) The only way to get my ram to its rated speed is to overclock my low energy am2 4600x2 2.4ghz to a 5000x2 at over 2.6ghz i dont want to overclock my system. Im loosing about 10% of the ram speed i had the same problem with some 4gig of patriot i had which i sent back thinking it was faulty this time i checked for compatibility and the corsair is fine. Im running xp pro this is doing my head in im at the point of buying a new board but its a shame that a decent board gets shut in a cuboard when there is nothing wrong apart from some dodgey settings somewhere. My ram is running at 1.93 volts if that helps here is a snap shot from pc wizard that shows my timming are all over the place but i know how to alter them(i think) so as they are all the same.I am running cool and quiet it drops to 400mhz but when used it runs at 603mhz everest reports it as this as does foxconns tiger one i understand that ramping up the fsb gets me there as ive tried it 667mhz and uping the frequency also does this but both ramp up the cpu their must be a setting that just ups the ram this is from everest Memory Bus 301.6 MHz i know that this should be 333mhz what am i doing wrong?PC WIZARD Serial Number : Unspecified Type : DDR2-SDRAM PC2-5300 (333 MHz) Format : Regular UDIMM (133.35 x 3) Size : 1024 MB (2 ranks, 4 banks) Module Buffered : No Module Registered : No Module EPP : No Width : 64-bit Error Correction Capability : No Max. erm read about ram in Clunk's overclocking stickie...just because you have 5400 rated ram, doesn't mean you have to go to it's top limit in speed.
I have 6400 ram but it's running at 660mhz....and would be like a Rolls Royce cruising at say 70mph, but do have the option of pushing it to 400/800mhz and maybe more. |

sounds like you are on something like a 2:3 RAM ratio.
What options have you under DRAM Configuration (or whatever Foxconn label the RAM setup part of the BIOS)? abit IP35 Pro, E6600/NH-12F, X1900XT, FSP 700W abit AB9 QuadGT, E6600/SI-120, 7800GT, FSP 600W abit AX78, 5000+ Black Edition/XP-120, 7800GT, Corsair HX520 My HEXUS.trust abit forums |

& what's it at currently (try 667)?
Also is this with the CPU external clock (fsb) at 200? I'm not sure if AM2 CPUs do this but on 939 the memory controller automatically drops RAM bus speed with that RAM config. "i wonder if these may be to do with it in advanved chipset features k8<->SB HT speed k8<->SB ht width" Nope. abit IP35 Pro, E6600/NH-12F, X1900XT, FSP 700W abit AB9 QuadGT, E6600/SI-120, 7800GT, FSP 600W abit AX78, 5000+ Black Edition/XP-120, 7800GT, Corsair HX520 My HEXUS.trust abit forums |
