ok...I have system listed on profile. I use Probe II from Asus...most current version. When I overclock to 333 x 9 on my q6600...p5k mb...I get this measuring device on the Asus Probe II that shows fsb monitoring and it goes from a few Green squares up to RED!!!!! at just 333 x 9...I am in the next to top square. The system handles the overclock very well...its stable....and temps on loading are less than 50C constantly. Bottom line..do I need to worry about this FSB warning I am getting on Probe II????

Any help is appreciated and I Thank you in advance.

What TIM did you use? I used ARCTIC SILVER 5 and have a quad core....temps using OCCT for 1 hour with all cores doing 100 percent load never go over 52 C when at 3.0 GHZ overclock. I also use the newer Xigmatek HD xp-s964 cooler with the 92 MM stock fan. Runs great and have done NO modifying on Voltages etc. Just FSB to 333 x 9 multiplier and settings as per Cluncks forum here.

Good luck and I hope this is helpful to some degree. I also use coretemp to monitor the cpu cores along with asus probeII and Intel TAT.

I hope this thread is still alive - I have a few questions:

Eventually got round to building my new system: Core 2 Quad Q6600 with P5K Premium WiFi (Black Pearl Edition) 2GB Corsair Ram 1066MHz and Thermalright 120 Ultra Xtreme cooler. (have not updated the bios so still on the initial 204 bios - don't know if that is part of the problem)

Problems are that it seems to be running a little hot: Currently overclocking to only 3.2GHz and when fully stressed reaches 62-63 degs C idle around 24 degs C Other than lowering the volts and FSB don't know how to get it running any cooler?

Also after 11 hours of Prime95 failed - core voltage is at 1.3 I do however have my ram running at its full speed of 1066 and not a 1:1 ratio so don't know if this is causing the error - Any suggestions?#

Ive got a P5K-VM, ive overclocked my e6300 from 1.86 to 3.0Ghz by 428 FSB and 7 Multiplier, I read this guide as well, very nice, though my ram was kingston value ram at 667, its running now at 856Mhz with 1.9V, but relaxed timings , the system outperforms the core2extreme x6800 in benchmarks by quite a bit, so I guess its all good.

And finally, I know Clunk has always said to use the black sockets for the ram to run a single "dual-channel" but the manual(page 2-14) indicates dimm A1, and dimm B1 are the recommended sockets, and they are yellow.

Any comments would be welcomed

I'm sorry if the beginners guide was too difficult for you.

If you click here, and go to number 8 on the list, you'll see that it does indeed say that the black slots work best for me, but then it also says "your mileage may vary", which to me means that you may have to try putting your two sticks of RAM in the other two slots if you are having trouble with the black ones.

I would also advise people to cross reference other aticles, especially if they aren't too good at reading and absorbing a single article and then putting it into practice.

That is assuming that I think that I am smart. You don't know me, or what I think my own intelligence level is.

Regarding your quest to get 533x6 to match your RAM at 1:1, from that I can conclude that I think that you aren't smart enough to question my smartness.

Good guide.. but does it apply to all P5Ks or just the Wifi deluxe first mentioned? Are the BIOS settings consistent through out the range? I notice Scan sell NINE models

Personally I would be looking at plain Jane P5K (still with copper cooled northbridge and Raid but not so many ports as P5KR). Nowhere can I find confirmation of the BIOS OC options of this model compared to others.

It was written for the P5K deluxe WiFi AP almost a year ago.

There are obviously going to be settings in the Deluxe BIOS that aren't in the others, but as this was only meant to be an easy walkthrough to get people up and running, and no-one else contributed any BIOS shots at the time, its all for the P5K Deluxe WiFi AP
