Urgent help with my new build please (RAID BSOD)
I have put together my new PC, relevant spec as follows:
Gigabyte GA P35C-DS3R Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2 x 250 Gb Samsung SP2504C SpinPoint (RAID) Samsung SH-S203B 20X DVD±RW/RAM I have plugged the drives in as follows: In the BIOS, I have set the following: BIOS > Integrated Peripherals > SATA RAID/AHCI Mode (Intel ICH9R Southbridge) > RAID BIOS > Integrated Peripherals > SATA Port0-3 Native Mode (Intel ICH9R Southbridge) > Enabled BIOS > Integrated Peripherals > Onboard SATA/IDE Device (GIGABYTE SATA2 Chip) > Disabled **Nothing plugged into it** I've then setup the RAID stripe in the Intel menu that appears. When I try to install XP, I press F6 to install the drivers (from Gigabyte's site) and select "Intel (R) ICH9 SATA RAID Controller (Desktop ICH9R)" as mentioned in the manual. XP setup continues to load a few files and the says "Setup is starting Windows" followed by a BSOD with the following code: "*** STOP: 0x0000007B....." I have tried the disabling RAID and everything works fine. I have tried the Gigabyte RAID controller (plugging the drives into the pink sockets instead) and everything works fine. So, what am I doing wrong? Do the hard drives have to be on a different controller to the DVD drive when using RAID? I'm at a loss, any help much appreciated. |

I think the pink ones are the jmicron ones, the orange ones are the Intel ones.
I've made some progress, seems the manual is wrong and the driver I need is not actually on the disk... Choosing the "Intel (R) ICH8R/ICH9R SATA RAID Controller" has potentially solved the problem. |
