    Good cheap amd motherboard?

hi, i'm after a new motherboard to replace my crap matsonic one, i have got a xp2000+ atm but would like the option to upgrade to a 3000+ later on so i will want a board that can cope with one. i also want to start overclocking, i have overclocked my 2000+ to 1.9ghz(12.5%) with my current board which is only a 266(through the bios).
so please can you recomend a good motherboard that will overclock well and is compatible with the fastest athlons.
oh and as cheap as possible.
    thanks

I just built a system for my daughter using an Asrock K7S8X-E+, available for £31.14 from Scan.

SIS chipset, but solid as a rock, very stable machine, I'm running an XP2400 in it.

    On board LAN, 5.1 sound, USB2.0 & AGP 8 x

Also 400fsb, so capable of taking XP3000

Haven't a clue about it's overclocking abilities but I would thoroughly recommend this board.

i would also reccomend any recent sis based mobo, esp the sis735 as i have two of them for my parents
dabs have a cheapish nforce2 mobo i think its about £40. it doesnt have dual channel but it should have all of the o./c options that the toehrs do. i htinkits a biostar make one.
also maybe better to check the blowout deals section of ebuyer and the bargain basment of aria, both have had some v cheap mobos

thanks, when i said cheap i was thinking around-£50-£60 with dual channel support. as my matsonic was like £30odd quid and it is utter crap tbh.
    so anymore recomendations?
also will there be any new boards out before aprilish life n-force3?(as the better n-force2 boards would be cheaper then)

if you can stretch to £50 then grab yourself an Abit NF7. Nforce2 chipset, dual channel etc, and yours for £50.00 from komplett at present. £62 gets you the NF7-S with SATA, soundstorm 5.1 and other extras, and a reputation as the best athlon board around.

    Hope thats helpful,

    Tom

In my experience, I was very impressed with the NF7-S sound. Not sure about the standard NF7. I wouldn't be surprised if it was ... very good!

the NF7-S has Soundstorm, which is the high-end onboard 5.1 sound, but the NF7's sound should be ok, if not brilliant.

"high-end" yet so many people have problems with the sound. NF7's should be fine tbh

For the extra £12 the NF7-S is well worth getting over the standard NF7.
