BlueStorm 2 500W PSU and Antec 900 Case

So i picked up the BlueStorm 2 while on offer about 2 weeks ago and i am now looking at the case so i can finally build my new system. I have been eyeing up the Antec 900 for some time but just looking at the dimensions makes me wonder if the cables on the PSU will be long enough, they do look very short.

Has anyone used this PSU with that case, any anything of a similar size, without the need of cable extenders?

Depends where the connections on the motherboard are, but it might . . . need to ask someone with an Antec 900 to get a tape mesure out.

I got the Nine Hundred and even though the PSU is in the bottom, i found the cables to be plenty long enough.

I cant be sure the Bluestorms would be but, its a great PSU, its a modern PSU and i think its INCREDIBLY unlikely that i will not fit your needs.

The Nine Hundred isnt actually that big, even though the pictures make it out to be.

Looking at the dimensions on the website its around 48cm deep and 48 cm in height. My concern was that the molex cables for the DVD drives only went as far as 26cm. How well i guess i will take a chance this week and hope for the best

The cables on the original Blue Storm were very very short.

Why don't you post the length of the cables and ask someone here (who has the Antec 900) to measure up for you?

    FSP Blue Storm II 500W

    Cord Lengths and Connectors:
    - Molex: 6 Connectors
o 2x 27cm length (3 connectors) this is where the longest molex connection reaches

    - SATA: 4 Connectors
    o 2x 21cm length

    - PCI-E: 1 Connector
    o 2x 15.5cm length

    - 4-Pin Floppy: 1 Connector
o 1x 32cm length (at end of Molex cord)

    - 20+4 ATX Connector: 15cm Length

    - 4-Pin CPU Connector: 16cm Length

So they look too short? Best plans if they are? Different case (although i really want the 900), different PSU or cable extenders?

The 900 is actually a pretty smallcase. Want anything smaller and you're in Shuttle territory. Don't forget that your cables are already starting out some way down the case - looking at mine maybe as much as 20cm. And then the headers are some way up the case - very much dependent on the mobo, but I'd be surprised if the cables weren't long enough.

If the molex ones aren't just get a splitter anyway.

I think thats an outrageous (bordering on ridiculous) exageration don't you?
Its a massive case but to liken almost to shuttle

Indeed, the 900 isn't much shorter than the P18x cases, and wide enough to fit a badboy Scythe Infinity, so it's not 'small' at all really.

I wasn't likening it to a shuttle, I was saying that to get anything appreciably smaller, you have to go down to shuttle size. OK that's an exaggeration, but we are only talking about a couple of inches heightwise between the 900 and very small ATX cases. And width doesn't really come into it.
