Another RAM advice request

Should I go for:

2Gb (2X1GB) Corsair TwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC5400 (667), 240 Pin, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 4-4-4-12

or

2GB (2x1GB) CorsairTwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC2-6400 (800), 240 Pins, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 5-5-5-12

or

2GB (2x1GB) CorsairTwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC2-6400 (800), 240 Pins, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 4-4-4-12, EPP

for my new machine, bearing in mind I'm going to overclock an E4400? I think I'm going to get a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R board, seems to have got some good reviews.

Those RAM speeds are irrelevant for overclocking - to run the E4400 at E6*** speeds whilst still staying synchronous you only need DDR 533 ram, so DDR667 or DDR800 both have loads of headroom. So go for one of the CAS 4 ones, and if you've got money to throw around get the 800 for the sake of it, otherwise get the 667 as it's still more than fast enough and any money saved can be better spent elsewhere.

Out of those two, definately go for the CAS 4 modules. For the sake of £3 they're worth it.

Kalniel is right. The 6400 is for overclocking, although not essential. Depends what you want to achieve and exactly how performance orientated you are.

Thanks guys. I think I'll stick with the 6400, which was my original intention. Not sure what level of overclock I'm going to go for, have never overclocked before - whatever I can get out of it without making it blow up!

Well I'm saying even the 5400 is *more* than good enough for massive overclocking. Given you can overclock hugely on even just 4200..

That's cool, I'll probably get the 6400 just for the sake of being able to keep it for future upgrading
