So, I finally got around to ordering my new PC. Luckily today was when Q6600 G0s became available on Scan too .

Teh beast:

• Antec P182
• Antec Quattro 850W (Some overkill but i'll be using it for future PC upgrades)
• Asus DVD-RW
• The 7in1 floppy drive thing on scan, forgot the make
• Thermalright Ultima-90i w/ 120mm Scythe S-Flex 1600RPM
• Intel Core2Quad Q6600 G0
• 2Gib Crucial Ballistix PC2-6400 4-4-4-12 (Had this for a few months now, some may remember my old thread about it ^^)
• 2x 500Gb Samsung Spinpoint T166's
• Sapphire Radeon HD2900XT 512MiB
• Asus P5K
• Sennheiser PC161 Headphones
• 2GiB Corsair Mem stick for readyboost (But it's first use will be spreading the love of the BioShock to my nextdoor neighbour, who is currently a non-believer )

So maybe this thread wasn't necessary but I wanted to say how happy I now am. My BioShock should arrive tomorrow (got dispatched this morning) and I will play with the Big Daddy for a few days I guess while I wait for the stuff to arrive . Then I shall experience it in all it's glory!

Thanks . And yeah, I'm looking forward to revisiting some of my old games after BioShock to see them in the glory I couldn't with my old system -- Stalker comes to mind (even with it's ATi prejudice ). Also looking forward to Quake Wars in 1280x1024 and some high settings; at the mo playing it at a nice framerate with textures on high (apart from terrain), the rest on medium -- at 800x600 mind .

Nice 1T of disk space there too I notice Disk space used to drive me mad... Up until Christmas I had a grand total of 80 gig

It was a nightmare because my mp3 collection was about 60 gig... so every time I wanted to install something like a game, I would have to delete a bunch of stuff. It was a constant pain in the bum. With loads of space and its just such a joy

I certainly hope you are not getting th Asus P5K vanilla with that setup
P5K-E would be my choise.

Played Bioshock demo today on 2900XT - all at max @ 1280x768 (LCD TV). No glitches at all, but AA was not enabled. Looks like drivers/game demo bug
Anyway it looks and plays simply great

Tbh with my current mobo, the K8V Deluxe, I found I use about 50% of the features on it so I figured, why spend more cash on features i'll never use, again ^^.

Hmmm off the top of my head I think it was £814 all together from Scan with Hexus free shipping, £157 from ocuk (psu and ultima-90i) and £73 on dabs for the RAM. That's including the Sennheiser PC161 headphones for £45 and a DVD-RW + 7in1 Floppy drive.

So altogether without the headphones I think £999, with them £1044. May be off by a few quid but the numbers above are very close to what I actually paid i'm sure .

P5K-E also includes Vdroop correction in BIOS settings which actually works. And power curcuitry is much stronger - just the thing for quad-cores if you will want to overclock it sometimes. All these things are missing on P5K vanilla. IMHO it is worth to add 30-40 quid for a proper mobo. Plus there are more things in the bundle and mobo looks lot sexier

Does ReadyBoost actually make a difference? I'm sure I read a review where they found ReadyBoost was completely pointless on systems with 2Gb+ RAM.

Not sure entirely but any boost is nice. I'll try it for a while without and then with. If they difference is so tiny it's unnoticable i'll just erm...well i'll just still use it , and use for data transport when needed ^^.
