Re: 17 inch to 19 inch upgradation
Last I checked CRTs, the GDM-F#20 series were well regarded (though there are other options such by Mitsubishi, iiyama etc.). That was quite a few years ago, not sure if any manufacturers has bothered updating their CRT line much since.
Personally though, I think it is a good time to move on to LCD display. As far as I know, Sony has stopped selling CRT monitors in this part of the world. |

If you mean an LCD is outside of your price range, I think you're mistaken as they're selling now for about the same money, not to mention the LCD uses a fraction of the electricity thus saving money in the long run.

Re: 17 inch to 19 inch upgradation
I wouldn't even know where to get a CRT from nowdays.
I used to have a link for a great place that sold lots of them, but I deleted it when I switched to LCD. The reason I switched, is because CRT's started slacking. Most of the new ones that I started seeing sold, had started using some new technology (I forgot what its called), and it gave a very flat screen, very high resolutions, and really great speeds, but the downside is that there where 2 lines across the screen which you could see if you ever displayed something with a pale background. That really put me off... Anyway, incase you wanted to check LCD's, check out www.scan.co.uk They have a fairly good selection of monitors so if you look for 19 or 20 inch LCD's, you should find lots, and then you can see if they are too expensive or not. As a gamer, you might really appreciate widescreen too. It makes a world of difference for gaming. |

Re: 17 inch to 19 inch upgradation
I just looked at scan - they have no CRT monitors. I agree with Lucio.
If you want CRT I suspect you will have to buy second hand. You will need to view several different images before buying. I would have to recommend Eizo. One of my sons has just taken a 21" model to university, that is over 10 years old. (not half as nickable as an LCD would be! it can only just be picked up by one person) |

CRT's shouldn't hurt your eyes at all. Why would it hurt your eyes?

My scan link was for him to look at the price of LCD's. |
