    Asus 8800GT not working?

    Hi all,

I now got a new System, Q6600 G0, Asus Maximus Formula SE, 2GB Crucial Balistix.
This was working with my old 7950GT.
Now I got the Asus 8800GT, and the system will not post.
I tried both PCI-e slots, both the same.

    PSU is a Corsair HX620W.
There are now 5 HDDs and 1 DVD-RW in the System.

PSU should be enough for this setup?

    Or is the 8800GT bust?

    Thanks in advance,
    Christian

Try taking out all HDD's apart from the one with the C:/ on it.

Your PSU will power that with ease.
If you put the other card in and it works, apart from clearing the BIOS, there isn't much it can be except a dead card

I just tried it with my old board, same thing. So it looks like the card is DOA
I will give Scan a call tomorrow morning.

    Thanks

There are some BIOS updates for “Enhance PCIE card compatibility” that could make it work for the Maximus Formula SE.

    Good point.
I just assume that people have the latest BIOS when trouble shooting

Tried it with the up2date BIOS, no success.
I also tried to setting the DRAM volltage to 2.2V, as this is from the Crucial website, and before it was 1.9 in BIOS.
    But also no post.
But I have to check one more thing.

    Re: Asus 8800GT not working?

And the last check did the trick.
Normaly I have my PC connected with a DVI-DVI cable.
I have now tried the DVI-VGA adapter which was included with the card, and used a old VGA cable, and, now I have a picture on the screen.

So there seems to be a problem with the DVI cable.
    But what problem?

Could also be the monitor. Is their an option in the monitors menus for digital instead of analogue?

Yes, but that is to change the input signal.
