    Maximum Q6600 G0 Overclock?

    Hi,

I have overclocked my Q6600 a little, but i just wanted to ask on what the most people have overclocked to on stock voltages? without the temps going too much? i have a Scythe Miné as my cooler!

    Thanks
    Craig.

    Re: Maximum Q6600 G0 Overclock?

I haven't actually done it, but I hear you can get about 3.0 Ghz on stock voltages....you might check Clunk's Overclocking Guide for the quads, though.

    Re: Maximum Q6600 G0 Overclock?

I've got mine at 3 GHz. Think I might have upped the VCore a couple of notches to keep it stable, but it was still way below the maximum "within spec" voltage on the Q6600 G0 datasheet.

Man, how much did you have to increase the voltage for that?! Thats insane! And it *is* stable, right?

Got a link to that datasheet? (This one?)

I've had to up my Vcore a little to get over a problem when restarting the PC (it's still nice and cool and ran fine at stock Vcore so I think it may have been the MB's VRs playing up on a soft reset). I'm only at 2.7Ghz right now but the system is only a week old.

I think you will find Clunk runs an advanced watercooling environment to get that performance...

    Re: Maximum Q6600 G0 Overclock?

Hmm intresting that is saying the Q6600 has 1.3125V as a default. My system detects it as 1.15V, me thinks this may be a problem. Explains why it's so cool at 2.7Ghz with 1.16v. (45c under full load)

Have you got C1E and EIST enabled still, as a matter of interest?

No 1st thing I do is turn off the SpeedStep stuff. 1.15v is what was reported both in the bios and CPU-Z, strange but stable.

Every motherboard is different for CPU voltages. One motherboard might require 1.41v to run the q6600 whereas another might only require 1.25v.

Consider yourself lucky that you have a motherboard that does not require alot of voltage to run your Q6600, giving you the room for higher overclocks.

I'd love to see a screenshot of CPU-Z showing your 2.7Ghz Q6600 at 1.15v under full load.

    Re: Maximum Q6600 G0 Overclock?

3ghz with stock volts should be fine (depending on board). if its unstable up the vcore a little but it wont need much more.

    Re: Maximum Q6600 G0 Overclock?

Will 1.16v do? I bumped up Vcore a couple of days ago to get round the soft restarting problem.

It's been running at 100% load since Monday (rosseta@home), I think if I put the Vcore up I shouldn't have a problem with 3Ghz
