3.3V Fail error in bios
I have a gigabyte DS3P with an E4300 running at 300fsb x 9 (2.7ghz). Tagan 480W PSU and 8800GTS.
Just had a power outage and my PC obviously lost power (no UPS). When i tried to switch back on, I'd get a weird beep which I haven't heard before and nothing. a few more tries, the beep changed but still nothing. eventually it managed to boot but it had lowered the clock speed of my E4300 back to default. all the other settings seem to stay the same. I go into the bios and check the PC health and next to 3.3v it says "Fail" in bright red. I tinkered with the fsb voltage and 3.3v went back to "OK". tried to boot windows it crashed and the 3.3V went back to fail. My clock speed is back down to 1.8 and 3.3v says "OK" and windows is now running. And now for God knows what reason the power cut out again. And now the PC is totally refusing to switch on. I started getting that beep again, so i reset the cmos, and now it switches on for 3-4 seconds then off again then on again then off again then on again etc. Anyone please help! Could it be this 3.3 V fail. what is that exactly? |

Yeah, sounds like the PSU got blown. Still, before forking out the greenbacks it would be best to try a different PSU if possible.

Re: 3.3V Fail error in bios
I tried some cheap ass PSU and the PC posted.
Any idea how long it will take for me to send it to Tagan and get it back? Final question, Corsair HX 520W modular for £65 or corsair VX 550W non modular for £55? |

Re: 3.3V Fail error in bios
520w - made by seasonic, and the modular nature allows for better/easier cable management. Plus, do you actually need 550w?

Re: 3.3V Fail error in bios
Scan don't have the 520W. and I have free delivery with them.
![]() so for a 520W the cheapest inc delivery is £70, or I can pick it up today from London at that price. which is a plus. |

Re: 3.3V Fail error in bios
Make sure you get the Tagan replaced - they are good PSU's
![]() Its not really the PSU thats at fault here. Its almost certain that when there was a power cut you had a spike / surge causing it to crap out. Get some power protection in there mate

UPS's are surprisingly cheap atm, I've been looking myself
![]() Even one with a few mins protection is enough for a graceful shutdown and stopping most harmful electricity issues

Re: 3.3V Fail error in bios
UPS any day - IMHO these cheap "power surge protectors" are a waste of space. A UPS will protect against brownouts. You only need one that will hold up for a few minutes so that it will trigger a graceful shutdown if power is off for more than a minute or two. Well worth it.

Go here for RMA NanoPoint UK. Click service tab select eRMA (green one). Just say what fault you have not about the power outage.
