    Microsoft Habu problems...

okay, so i have had this mouse for over 3 months now, bought of the bay, for around £25 inc p and p.

it has been fine untill a week ago when i randomly stared to disconnect and re connect while in windows. then it woudl start doifn it while playign games, and most annoyingly, cod4 online!

does anyone know the problem, and would MS RMA it? it was manufactured in October 2006.

Mine does the same, after a year of use, doesn't seem like a very long lasting mouse, mine was a month out of the warranty, after a few days it will just stop working.

All MS mice used to have a lifetime warranty on them, no idea if this is still the case.
Search this forum for Microsoft Direct Services. They have always sent me a new mouse without issue

As the owner of two Habus that have done this I can sympathise: each time for me it's been a rapid move to the right that's caused the mouse to drop and re-establish connection with the USB add/remove ding-dong tune.

There is, however, a fairly easy fix if you're out of warranty or don't want to bother/can't go with a Microsoft RMA.

The fault is caused by a wire breakage close to the front of the mouse. I've fixed it by stripping about a cm of the black cable wrap directly in front of the mouse (just after the thicker plastic bit where it comes out of the casing.) If you open it up you'll invariably find a strand or two of wire (it's a silvery, bundle-like collection of wires that make the cable) that's snapped or is sticking out. Push it down, tape it up firmly and it should work again.

Pretty pants to have to do this I know but this approach has worked for me both times. Good luck if you go for a repair.
