Well just got this as a present and was impressed as it is the cheapest fan controller i can see in the market. Thought it was worth doing a mini review on it so people can decide on what one they should buy, just so you know im not good at reviews and dont have alot of time so sorry for gramma+wording and pics are not the best.
For reference this is the fan controller im on about http://www.ebuyer.com/product/136404 priced at £6.98 only from ebuyer(afaik).
Main features:
1. 6 individual dials
2. Built in blue LED's on each dial that reflect high to low settings
3. 3 different colour panels, black, blue and clear.
4. Fits in a 5.25" bay
First of all, what is included in the box? well there are 6 cables(iirc) and the 3 colour panels, the controller, screws and an adaptor to house a 3.25" hard drive in the fan controller and of course the basic instructions. Picture
Picture of the actual unit,
The front panel is held by 4 allen type screws which can be unscrewed using the allen key given.
From looking at it id say its just as good as the rest of the basic ones but with the price and amount of fans on it's side.
The inside, there are 6 individual 3pin connections which correspond to their channel
Picture, sorry for the quality but the flash was on and didnt notice, they are all in a row so might be able to see it there is also a power connector on the left side hope you can make it out(im pointing to it), id like to warn anyone that this is one of the flaws of the product, its very flimsy and i nearly broke it when i was plugging the power cable in luckily it didnt snap when i was bending it back but id recommend putting your finger ontop of the connector just incase.
Installation: Was very easy as it fitted nicely, managed to scratch a bit of it on the side but thats inside so doesnt matter. Use the screws provided or as well as your own tool free stuff in your case(if you have a cm690 like me).
Once it was screwed in it looked like this
Put the panel back on and looked alright for my case from saving about 50% on the product compared to competitors id say its worth it.
This is when my computer is on
Pros:
1. Very cheap
2. Not bad quality
3. Plenty of connections that are varied e.g. 2pin molex(in a 4pin shell) and the standard 3pin
4. Controls alot of fans
5. Easy to install
6. Can install a 3.25" hard drive in it
Cons:
1. Some internals could be reinforced to reduce risk of breaking
2. Dial LED's are to bright in my opinion, this is to taste though and doesnt really bother me much as i dont look at it
3. Front panel colours could be darker, the black is a clear black as i can see.
4. Could be a tad bit longer so that the shell(not the dials) line right upto my cd drive
Id personally recommend this drive over the zalman and others as it is really cheap and does the job. Dials are pretty responsive as far as i can tell.
Sorry for alot of pictures+some poor quality. Hope this helped people in making a decision on a purchase.
edit: just incase someone wants the spec here it is from ebuyer
