Need a case with a horizontal motherboard tray.... Hi, As the thread title says, im looking to buy a case, and it must have a horizontal motherboard tray, I have been offered a mountain mods Horizona for £180, with a DVD drive and fan controller included.... However I think its a little pricey still, and so, any other suggestions? Or should I just go for it? Thanks

Re: Need a case with a horizontal motherboard tray.... Just had a look, and it doesnt look like it will fit, the TRU is 16.5cm, and the case is 17 i think, so when you add in motherboard and motherboard standoffs and also that the cooler sits ontop of the cpu, not tall enough, ![]() Thanks, any other suggestions?

Re: Need a case with a horizontal motherboard tray.... I actually just had a look at that, ![]() Im not sure it would quite fit, it leaves only 1cm for motherboard and standoffs ets, However, I have had a revelation, maybe, ill just go for a normal case, and just have it on its side, (when I want to be able to tinker with it.....) So, any suggestions for a decent case then? ![]() But one that could be watercooled at a later stage.....

Re: Need a case with a horizontal motherboard tray.... depends on how much you plan to tinker with it. You can always get a smaller/lighter pc case and just lay it on it's side when you want to tinker but leave it standing normally the rest of the time. Then there's always the Antec Skeleton, espensive but very feature rich, flat and open for constant tinkering.

| Re: Need a case with a horizontal motherboard tray.... Hardware reviewers, people constantly testing and swaping parts to test, someone who wants something that looks different and/or elegant. (from a pure design aesthetic point of view antec did a great job on this) Heck seem to remember someone asking about the possibility of screwing one to the wall. would of been one heck of a dust trap but it would look spectular and very different. | Re: Need a case with a horizontal motherboard tray.... Well, custompc did a review, and, its not big enough,t here just isnt enough clearance between the mobo tray and the big fan, and apparently its just fuiddly to work with, meant to make things easier, but they found it didnt at all....... Im looking at getting something from danger den, maybe the airbox/watebox/watebox+, (obviously heading towards the aibox) |

Re: Need a case with a horizontal motherboard tray.... There's the NZXT Rogue... it's technically a mATX case but can fit a standard ATX without too much work as it's very chunky. Take a look around for mods. It's worth noting that the DFI JR series mobos are mATX boards but full spec so work very nicely in this case. An other option is some of the desktop Antec or Zalman ATX media chassis. They're roomy enough for full spec PCs.

Re: Need a case with a horizontal motherboard tray.... The rouge would no doubt fit the thermalright but I don't see how it can fit a full ATX mobo? You would need to make more PCI slot holes and everything.. lot of work really. Or would you fit in the wrong way and make new PCI slots all together. OK found a project on it.. http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthrea...=147688&page=2 Does look like a fair bit of work.. and it's an expensive case to start with.

Re: Need a case with a horizontal motherboard tray.... I have seen them and while I think they are a great idea, at £130ish, a little pricey, atm im using a similar setup, but using a craborad box for tthe lower half, (cut aholes where need for airflow/cables) I am going to see if someone at school, (or the tech teachers) can put on together, very similar to that bench table, Im looking to go dice at some point, so I would need a horizontal mobo tray then, so im defo not gonna have a normal case and put its on its side or whatever Thanks for all of the advice If you believe in Jesus Christ and are 100% proud of it, then put this in your sig
