I would get the Geil over the Crucial though. The Dell DIMMs are made by Hynix which is around the same as Crucial. None of the companies are bad but I tend to prefer Geil though! The advantage of the Dell ones is that they are quite cheap.

Silverpower is part of the same group as Tagan so they do make decent budget PSUs.

The PSU will probably run a quad core and a HD4850 or HD5770 fine but if you want to have some more leeway then you will need to spend more money!!

Basically I would only stick to a graphics card which needs only one PCI-E power connector or even is bus powered. Anything more and you would probably need a better PSU IMHO.

Perhaps you need a BIOS update?? What did you get in the end?? Have you tried unlocking the CPU??

not yet but I will get round to it once I get the time to read up on it etc, but AFAIK its a matter of just turning on ACC to AUTO in the bios then trying to boot it up, I wonder if theres anything more to it?

EDIT: it turns out my bro already updated it with the latest BIOS, you see at first there was no ACC option but with the update ACC can now be selected

Given that your core voltage is reporting as 0.022V, Rather than the more usual 1.2v - 1.4v, I'd say that something's amiss Although if you're genuinely getting it to boot @ 0.02v then it must be running at about 1W or something!!!

MOBO 48-53 with case open (probabily due to the crap case and maybe the IGP) if i close it the temps rises to 60C (maybe more but i opened it up before it rose any further)

ok i tried amd overdrive just to see if the problem wasnt from cpu z side as some other fields were blank in cpu z [i guess it doesnt like my cpu] and lo and behold it says am2+, so it seems it the issue is with cpu z.

I'm surprised your mobo temps are that high - are you sure nothing's disturbed the northbridge heatsink? My 785G mobo runs about 35 degrees in a SFF case with airflow provided by the single 120mm fan in my PSU... what mobo do you go with in the end?

ye im puzzled about its high temp, i got the asus m3a78-t [790gx]

The HD3300 IGP in the 790GX runs at a much higher clockspeed than the 785G and also the 785G has additional power saving features which should make it run cooler. The 780G on which the 785G is based on AFAIK does consume more power at idle too.

My 780V motherboard runs at temps similar to that, I even emailed the MFR about it and they said it was normal - it's fine up to around 70C. IMO they should have used a bigger heatsink though...
