I finally decided to leap into watercooling proper, my current rig is as follows:

i7 860 under an NH-U12P SE2
MSI P55 GD65
4GB 2000mhz GSkill RipJaw
80GB Intel G2 SSD
500GB WD AAKS
640GB WD AAKS
250GB WD AAKs
250GB WD AAKs

Now the first thing that is going to annoy me is the PSU... It has a red label on it... everything else is blue/black so i'll have to fix that...

So first actual thing to note is that everything is still in the post, well... Almost everything...

I have my GFX block, EK FC-260GTX with the Acetal top (black to match the rest of the build):





The barbs will be gone in favour of black compression fittings

No dye going near my loop... (Well apart from Vinyl dye to *fix* the Noctuas)

The 800D is on it's way (Dabs, surprisingly) so should be here between now and Fri, and Specialtech's (again, surprisingly) load shouldn't take too long hopefully

Taktak, care to tell me how much you spent (roughly) on the watercooling parts? Ive a basic WC setup now but after i recieve my grant I will be using it to fund a new gpu and other components, one possible upgrade would be the WC setup so im interested .

Is the Thermochill PA120.3 really that good? Cause £70 for a brand new one is a lot, i know thermochill have a good rep so i assume this beats almost everything? Are the XSPC ones (that £40) acceptable?.

Make sure you do a full system temp test, because if its good then I will have to keep an eye out for second hand parts of these floating on ebay .

The Thermochill excels in terms of low restriction, and has overall performance in terms of robustness with fans used, in that low static pressure will still reap decent results, but as Fraz rightly says, the XSPC RX360 pulls slightly ahead while using lower static pressure, i'm not 100% sure but i think the RX is more restrictive too

The RS and the Lite are ~ half the width of the PA120.3 and RX, so if you're strapped for space then they are a good option, however your best performance will come from the RX's or PA120.3, and don't even bother with feser

It's not so much as the Thermochill beats everything (it is right near the top though) but it is very well rounded , plus it's English , Steve Verity used to own them until not too long ago, yet another top bloke

And yep, temps will be on the cards, obviously not very scientific as i'll be moving cases at the same time as well and i won't have another rad to compare with.

The main cost is the Rad, CPU block and Pump (well, that's basically all of the loop ) and that is where your performance is, if you skimp you will lose some potential cooling (it may well not be that much, but it's still a loss )

Need to find a suitable case, how much was the 800D? £150? Let me know what you think of it because if the above does happen i may well go all the way and replace this case i modded because a quad rad wont fit xD.

Ouch, it does look like the best case though and since cases last years I feel its worth the investment. I have a case thats like 10 years old and is being used to this date (after just over a year with a cm690 xD).

Yeh the TYR X2000F will be expensive and looks the part, typical Lian li .

A case that i was really hoping to get as the corsair one is a bit to much for me was the silverstone black raven, but i found out that its a crap case for WC... too small although i love the concept .

well im now thinking of asking tom to make me a 140mm rad bracket like his 120mm version and hanging a 140.3 off the back of the case.. why you ask, well 2 of these to match the rest of the koolance kit in my rig

The Thermochill PA and RX360 are two of the least restrictive radiators on the market. The Thermochill is less restrictive, but only slightly .

Eeee gads, just rebuilt into the 800D, came to boot up and get boot manager missing, fiddle around to get my SSD working, BSOD everytime it gets to the windows logo fiddle some more, remove the overclock, try to reboot and nothing, keeps trying, and again until the BIOS decides it has failed and chucks up an error sayign overclock failed, then starts trouble shooting and floppy failure... Eh?

But it now seems to have fixed itself during the trouble shooting phase so quids in

WC stuff should be here tomorrow then i can make a start, but first piccys of the beast...

It seems that the case gods were kind to me and it arrived without damage via DHL (cheers Dabs)
