    Abit Nf7-s Or Abit An7-guru

Ok, after deciding my mobo is broken, I am going to get one of the following,

    ABIT NF7-S

    or

    ABIT AN7-GURU

They are both the same price, so forget the price.

    *********************
    I am running 2 x hdd's (60+120)

    XP1700 @ 2.5 GIG

    1 gig PC2700 ram

SBLIVE 5.1, so a nice sound storm thingy would be cool,

    Cooled on water
    *********************

    Which one you think?

    NF7S

The AN7 is good if your new to overclocking and want to have a nice software control panel to monitor all the system temps and voltages etc, but for sheer performance then I'd definate go with either the NF7-S or the NF7-S2G where the latter is basically an updated version of the Nforce 2 ultra 400 chipset with better SATA support and gigabit ethernet.

I've heard theres a few issues with the bios on the NF7S-2G at the present time that prohibits overclocking, suffice to say I'm waiting to see the new bios releases planned. BTW the southbridge cooler on the NF7S-2G is quite funky actually lol

    **EDIT** :: Reports are indicating that the NF7S-2G has a lack of the following ;

    CL2 memory support
    multipliers
    good voltage options

Stick with the good old NF7-S 2.0 and you'll not go far wrong

ABIT UK have apparently said that Cl2 will be added in a future BIOS but that no multipliers is by design & won't be added.
& of course it doesn't have SoundStorm audio but gains onchip SATA rather than via PCI Bus as well as Gigabit ethernet & I believe that it has nVidia firewall too .

The AN7 appears to be maturing into a decent enough board but non average not capable of overclocking quite as well as the NF7-S V2.0.

NF7-S - Great overclocking features, and decent onboard sound. 'Nuff said.
