AMD 64 3200+, need help with motherboard, thx

hi

i am getting a new computer for my brother, he wants to get AMD 64 3200+ or 3400+, (actually he wants AMD FX 53, but no way im going to pay for him )

can anyone suggest a motherboard?

he wants it to support memory (RAM) dual channel, i guess most of them do now
then mayb firewire...SATA (RAID)...PCI-express?...

I'm not up on Athlon 64 motherboards, but if you want dual channel I believe you'll need one of the new Socket 939 motherboards.

Check out some of the reviews on the main site, and await tips from the other forum members in the know... they should be along any minute now

S754 (2800+, 3000+, 3200+, 3400+ and 3700+) is single channel 512KB (apart from 3700)
S939 (3500+, 3800+, FX53) dual channel ordinary memory
S940 (FX series) dual channel BUT registered memory.

i recommend the any nForce3 250GB board tbh
The gigabyte and MSI K8N neo are solid choices

As far as I know, the Athlon 64s aren't that much slower than the FX-53s anyway, so he's not losing out on much.

Why not? I'm thinking of buying the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum to go with an Athlon 63 3500. It seems better than the Asus socket 939 because of both native SATA support and better networking. What's bad about it?

Can I ask why as you don't seem to be very forthcoming for reasons!

Mines excellent! 270FSB, decent stability and good features... It has a few oddities but doesn't all boards!
