Anyone know if there this motherboard supports HDDs 200GB and over?

If not, anyone know the maximum size of HDD it can support?

Explanation

1. For HPT 370/372 users, please update the driver to 2.32 or later.
2. In order to support harddisk larger than 160GB, you may need to upgrade BIOS with new Award BIOS kernel that can support 48-bit LBA. Please upgrade to the latest BIOS we show below before install your new hard drive.

I already found that - there is also a list of m/boards for 137+GB boards, but doesnt really tell me whats the largest it can handle (tho it kinda infers 160GB or over) . . . they have a similar list for 200GB+ drives, but thats for more recent models.

Not that I wouldnt have use for a 200+GB drive, but Id rather it go into the PC which has the KT7-A.

AFAIK if the board supports 48bit LBA, then you can use any current hard disk with no worries.

Hmmm- might be as well to get a second opinion mind.

My reasoning is that what they used previously (40 bit LBA? ) supported up to 137GB. Since they've added another 8 (or whatever) bits, they've increased the maximum addressable size by a factor of 256, so discs of (in theory) 35TB ought to be workable with 48bit LBA.

the max is native supports is 137gb, to use bigger a add on card is needed with 48bit lba support.

It's not just a bios update m8, the chipset has to support 48bit lba.

What i think it means is that it will pick up the 200gb/160gb hdds but only show 137gb of space that you can use.

Does that mean I could split say a 200GB drive and have 2x100GB partitions and it'll be OK?

Or Id only be able to address 137GB end of?
