Talking New System Complete (Not 56k friendly)

Finally finished building up my new rig after ages of running it on my desk.

Bought an old full tower case off eBay for £16 and sprayed it BMW Bright Red this morning

Highlights include Dual Xeon 3.2GHz with Gallatin-1M cores (Northwoods with 1MB L3 cache)

Also required are dual PSU's as was having corruption issues in games with the 6800 Ultra not getting enough power.

The OCZ Technology 420w PSU is used solely to power the motherboard while the Macron 400w is running the graphics card, hard drives and DVD-RW.

The case side and second PSU mounting was cut by a mate with a plasma cutter and up close its a bit sloppy but looks ok overall, he did scorch the HDD rack a bit tho.

I'm going to be fitting mesh to the hole in the side to ensure good airflow but need the mesh and more paint before can finish that off.

    Full Specs:
    Dual Xeon 3.2GHz running at 3.45GHz (165 x 21)
    Asus PC-DL Deluxe
OCZ Technology 1GB PC3200 Enhanced Bandwidth
    Gainward GeForce 6800 Ultra
    120GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 SATA
    160GB Maxtor DiamondPlus 9 SATA
    Pioneer DVR-106D DVD+/-RW drive
    OCZ Technology 420w PSU
    Macron 400w PSU

Very nice colour, you should spray that beige CD drive to match. What exactly happened to the Hard disk drive rack?

The colour looks much darker irl, more of a blood red in most lighting.
The hard drive rack got scorched by the plasma cutter as the side panel was not removed when cutting the case.

Don't quite follow u there, no lights in it unless you count the ones in the back of the PSU or the LED's on the motherboard

Not to sure but is it not really dangerous to run a system on more than one PSU. I always tought it just didn't work?

Normally it doesn't work, I had to wire up a little adaptor to enable the second power supply to be powered up with the first one, just runs two cables off from the EPS12V connector (ATX connector for server boards) which tell the PSU it is on and to the ATX connector of the second PSU.

Can't see why it would be dangerous, they are both getting plenty air flow.

I did it for a year... no problems.

The issue is running one device from more than one PSU... because then you've got the slight difference in voltages from each PSU... well, it'll cause problems to say the least.

Heh - looks nice, although you really need to spray that CD drive

If you get a chance to have a play with the plasma cutter - try cutting some plastic (It just vaporises it)

Each device is using either one PSU or the other, none are utilising both
