Arrow Recommend me a gaming keyboard

I recently replaced my long-serving Compaq keyboard, as it was starting to show its age. The replacement, a Genius KL-0210 (PS/2 model), was chosen mostly because of the key layout (Specifically \, Backspace and Enter - yes, I'm picky). Sadly, this keyboard isn't overly good for gaming. I use the keys ERTZ for movement, and then mostly keys situated ariound T for weapon-switching (W, 6, Y, H and G). However, on this keyboard, if I'm holding two of my movement keys down and hit a third key to switch weapons, absolutely nothing happens (Could be specific combinations, I'm not sure). Either way, this is proving immensely frustrating during a game of Quake 3.

Basically, the more keys one can hold simultaneously and still get a response, the better. Which keyboard would you guys suggest?

Well, I'm using a Internet Navigator or was called Logitech's Elite... Very nice! Also very heavy... I'm not shure how many keys you can hit at once, but I will find out!

eldren it's something I've seen before when passing perfectly functional keyboards through a KVM, only two simultaneous key presses ever reach the PC, a hugely frustrating experience.
I've discovered not all KVMs have this problem so it suggests it's specific to the hardware alright.

Personnaly I find Dell leyboards have been superb for years as I much prefer their positive feedback which Microsoft and Logitech keyboards seem to lack. Currently I'm using a US Dell keyboard with UK setings (a minor irritation) simply because I've not tracked down a UK spec one I can buy individually.

However on a recent visit to PC World Microsoft's latest range (released recently in silver) seemed have improved dramatically. Price is a big issue though.

I suggest you pop into PC World or a similar store where you can actually have a play with the keyboards on display and get a feel for the way they type. Try your usual passwords, name maybe a sentence or two. You may think you look a little silly but it's definitely the best way to make your own judgement.

Oh and shop around once you've decidied as prices vary widely especially at this time of year.

Gotta love the MS Naturals myself, been using them for 7 years now, and can't go back to straight keyboards. Never a problem with multiple keys either.

Though for gaming, I've now switched to one of these - and love it

Now go away before I taunt you a second time.

Ironic, really - that Logitech looks amazingly like this Genius keyboard (Or vice versa ) - save that the Enter button and the surrounding keys are all different (And, for me, better for typing). That SpeedPad looks mighty interesting - sadly, far as I can find, it's not available in this country.

Vimeous - I'm not using a KVM at all, so it can't be that. :/

So, the Logitech it is - thanks for the heads up.
