| £500 Amd system Hi chaps, A friend of mine has asked me to build him a system for £500 based around an Amd 64 3000+ Sckt 754. I haven't used Amd for a while so i'm not too sure which components are best. If any one has any suggestions that would be great. He just wants a base system; case, psu, cpu, mobo, ram, gfx card, sound on motherboard is acceptable but not essential. I personally would spend more on the cpu and gfx than the rest but thats me. The Cpu was only a guide so i'm not sure if he could do better than that. Ok i'm all ears and thanks in advance. |

| First question is: What does he need the system for? Without knowing, we can't possibly offer you any suggestions on things like CPU and GPU power, RAM speed, HDD size, etc. If cars had followed the same developmental path as computers, a Rolls Royce would cost £60, get a million miles per gallon and explode once a year, killing everyone inside. |

| If you still want to go the socket 754 route then change the motherboard for this one from komplett EPoX EP-8KDA3J Mainboard for Socket 754 nForce3 250GB,SATA,GbLAN,ATX,Sound £55.00 http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=300671&cks=PRL And this CPU AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 2.0 GHz Socket 754, 512 KB cache, BOXED £102.00 http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=300492&cks=PRL So then the total becomes £499.00 (But socket 754 isnt so future proof) "Mmm...
