| Long Awaited Memory Upgrade I will be receiving my nf3 board and my 3200 winny chip in a few days time, but at the moment i am using some loose unbranded pc2700 memory and im looking to buy a gig of some dual channel memory. Ive looked at the geil and corsair value memory and they both look very nice. I just want to hear what everyone elses opinions are, im looking to spend about £100 on some new memory, any help at all would be great thanks. |

| Smell my cheese! | I always favour Corsair, but that's just a personal pref. Hav a looky thro this month's Custom PC (issue 108) where there's a good ram grouptest which includes budget ram for a change. Coming out on top there is Scan's own Elixir (which up untill that point i'd never herd of), which is damned good value at £81 inc vat for a gig then THIS, THIS and THIS and you need a HEXUS T-Shirt ...Size matters -> Sig Sizes |

| A mate of mine keeps on going on about Geil value ram being good, but the latency on this is 5ns, but the corsai memory is 3ns, this means that the corsair memory is better right? The geil memory has added stuff like heat spreaders and other bonuses, their both roughly the same price. |

| Some people even say that heat spreaders confine the memory resulting in less airflow around the chips which could in some cases increase the temperature. | I bought some copper ramsinks from coolermaster, they do a good job of cooling my 9600 XT memory and they do a great job of disapating the heat, i was able to clock the memory a good bit higher without artifacts forming in 3d images.. I bought copper heat spreaders for my ram but it came with a big lump of this 'thermal' putty crap, it would have hindered the heat disapation for sure, i tried scraping it off with the intention of using some Acrtic Silver adheasive to keep them on, but before i started mixing the damn spreaders wouldn't sit on the sticks right so the whole thing was a waste of time and money. So what i might do later is get some more ram sinks and epoxy them on, since the ram is sitting in dual-channels they shouldn't get in the way of each other with those metal lumps attached. |
