memtest86 error messages
hey there,
bought some mushkin pc3200 lv 2 mem from Kustom about 2 months ago, and basically since installing the module my system has been pretty unstable. Can't even leave my pc on for more that 2 days without some BSOD or some program going awol on me. The memory module won't even let me format windows!! When i replaced the module with another one everything seemed to run fine. Just ran memtest and by test #4 it had found over 21,000 errors. Tried it on another stick and no errors were found. Got an abit nf7-s, 2500+ barton, an these are no longer overclocked and the mem runs at spd setting, but this makes no change. From the memtest results is there something physically wrong with the ram? Mushkin says it has a lifetime warrenty but want to make sure before i rma it |

Have you tried moving the Mushkin stick to a different slot? Does this reduce the errors or solve your problems?
You can try increasing vDIMM safely to 2.8v and see whether that'll stabilise your system. If that doesn't work, your RAM is fubar and you should get it replaced.

memtest86 tends to be spot on every time i've used it.

heh, memtest is okay if it gives errors in two of the tests, i wish i could find the complete documentation for what all of the tests really break down to looking at.
But if you overclock your ram even by a little you can get silly numbers of errors, infact worst i've ever seen was over 73K errors on some corsair 3200LL XMS. Running at 217fsb, nothing wrong with the memory at all and the system it was on was stable as anything. I'll try and dig out the two tests that it can report errors without it meaning anything... (think its 4 and 11 but don't quote me on this) TiG

Up the northbridge voltage a little - also, whats your PSU like ?
Tried running one stick at a time, and in non dual DDR mode ? Or is it just 1 stick of memory ?
