2.1 Speakers? I'm looking at buying some 2.1 Speakers to replace my 2.0 set-up. I don't want 5.1 as I dont have the room, don't watch many films on my PC, and would rather spend the money that would go on the extra 3 speakers on getting better quality from a 2.1 What I Have found is it is incredibly hard to find any reviews of PC speakers anywhere - so if anyone knows any decent speaker review sites I would be very grateful. I'm basically looking to spend £50 not a lot more if possible. Current Candidates... Altec Lansing VS4121 2.1 Speakers Creative i-Trigue 3400 2.1 Speakers Cyber Acoustics A3640 Speakers 2.1 110W Logitech X230 2.1 Speakers The Logitechs are probably bottom of my list, as the X120s I have at the moment are frankly rubbish. They are also £20 cheaper which doesn't inspire confidence in their quality. Anyone got or got any opinions on the others? Any help greatly appreciated

Ever considered headphones? I think that it is reasonable to say that headphones provide more bang for buck than speakers (at least until you hit the 4 digits). My reference site for MM speaker is 3dss.com. Unfortunately, they don't really update the site anymore, but the forum is still very much alive, and you do get reviews from some of the mods/regular members there. If anything, it doesn't hurt to see what they've got to say. But I still think that if you already have a 2.0 setup, and aren't looking to spend much, primarily listen to music, and don't need to "share" your sound.. then consider to get a pair of headphone instead ![]() (£50 is not much in the audio world, but it'll get you an entry level audiophile headphones... which should be better, for music, than a 2.1 mid-level multimedia speakers)

i can put in a vote for altec lansing speakers... unless things have radically changed in their camp they make some great speakers - iv been using mine for the last 4 years, no problems and they still sound better than the logitech z680's i bought to replace em...ended up selling the logitech ones and sticking with what i have ![]() Senheisser headphones are also a great alternative too

My dad uses the X230s at home, and I have X530s at Uni. They are fantastic! The reason they are so much cheaper is that they are aimed at a market below the others, but they don't perform like it. I'd really strongly recommend them as long as you don't need to fill a huge room with sound. That's the only area they lack in... volume. They give plenty if you are sitting at your pc, but go and sit on a sofa or something, and you may miss out. It sounds like I'm saying the volume is rubbish, it's not. It'll just lack the punch of the others. The bass is excellent though. Once again, strongly recommended.

I've pretty much decided I'm not going to bother with any of them now! When I move into my new place in July, I will get myself an amp and a pair of monitors (Gale Silvers or something similar) which should from what I can tell provide far better sound than any PC speakers for the same money ever will.

I've had the CA ones you posted and I now use the 3550's the clarity is really superb. As long as you turn the bass down in the mix (as on default setting the bass is far to heavy, if you slightly lower it it gives you much more control from the speaker) then the sound is really superb, I can't reccomend them highly enough.
