| no audio in WinME!! please help ::this may not be in the right forum place so move as necessary ::I have an old computer I'v been putting back together after a rather disasterous CPU death... anyway - I got myself another mobo - A7N8x-dlx - which I have on another XP based machine and works fine. the problem I'm having is that I can't get the audio drivers to work at all...no little icon appears in the system tray despite me installing the drivers from the CD I have. just having no joy. I try to play MP3's but I get an error message saying audio hardware not found/recognised... I made it work with Win 98 but in ME I seem to be having a few problems. I went to the ftp site to try and get some things; anv_me.zip which I found as an audio driver but it didn't help. . . I'm utterly stumped as to what to do now as I feel I'v tried most things, so any help would be magic. Please, Don't ask for that one 'as a desktop'...its really not worth wasting your time asking, unless you're able to pay £££? | WinME is the most buggiest OS MS have made IMO, and IME (In My Experiance) some have problems, very few don't. I would suggest either trying a BIOS update if there is one, or upgrade your OS to either Win2K or XP, or stick with Win98. I guess some other people might have better suggestions. I hope so for your sake that you get it working! |

| WinME is disgustingly bad and flawed, it should have never seen the light of day. Win98SE is better (and I'd consider it an upgrade) otherwise use 2000/XP. Biggest problem is hw support esp drivers as ME uses drivers different form both the normal Win9x (95, 98) or Win2000/XP. The OS was around for such a breif time most manus never bothered with it. |
