Looks good to me... nice 2nd gen chipset, and as you say it's putting out some bad boy speeds! Only thing I'm not so keen on is the ULi southbridge (I know they are supposed to be solid but... eww ULi ), and the fact that after you put a double slot graphics card in there is no usuable PCI-E 1x slot

Anandtech had a review but it's been pulled down! These boards aren't suppose to exist yet because ATi haven't launched the chipset, but some cheeky/lucky buggers have got their mits on retail boards already!

I wanna see what DFI are gonna bring to the fore before I think about digging into the "pointless-upgrade-funds"

No idea about the validity of the sources, but someone at Anandtech forums mentioned that DFI has no intention of releasing a RD580 board (presumably on 939).

Except that they've already got one in pre-production:

Hmmm, doubt it, should be fine. It would be a real rookie mistake, especially from a company like DFI who are supposed to be the enthusiast clockers, board.

Couldn't that be an AM2 board instead?

Generally speaking, I've heard more praise for motherboard layout for Asus than for DFI.

That said, I wouldn't mind the least if DFI releases a socket 939 RD580 boards: anything that might help with driving the prices down is welcome. I find it slightly absurd that the A8R32 is currently priced higher than the A8N32, when the former lack some of the gravy of the later (heatpipe/8 phase). Even if those are not necessary for the RD580, it should lower the price of the motherboard.

The Asus RD580 board only has 1 PCI x1 slot and that looks like my X1900XTX would actually block it

Waiting to see what the others produce as I want to go PCI-E Raid soon.

Agree, AM2 is supposed to have a completely new heatsink mounting.

What card are you looking at dude? I want the Areca ARC-1220, but it's *slightly* out of the price range

Not that I know off... Asus are usually quite quick off the board (huuuuge company!)
