    Gaming mouse and keyboard

So Xmas is coming and if I don't say anything I will get the usual crap : foot spa, socks, cheap aftershave, 'joke' items from the Xmas shelves in BHS.......you know the score.

Idea! Why not ask for a gaming keyboard / keypad and mouse to enhance my distinctly average gaming skills.

Currently I use a Logitech MX700 cordless desktop.

Could anyone recommend a gaming keypad or keyboard and mouse. Would prefer cordless if it is not too much of a compromise and like the idea of programmable buttons for chucking grenades etc in BF2 (which is mostly what i play)

    Have looked at :

    Z-board (looks tacky)
    Fang keypad (maybe?)
    Raser mice (copperhead?)
Logitech G7 (looks quite cool but is it any better than what I've got?)

I await your sage advice fellow Hexus peeps, what have you got?

have a look at the Zboard Merc

tiny bit bigger than you're average board, but a damn good one and i haven't had any probs. the only downside is that if you're looking to use keysets then you can't with this and you will need the z zboard although keys can be programmed via the z engine.

as for the mouse still using my mx518, used to think that the raptors were good but this is as good

The G7 is a huge step up from your average wireless laser/optical mouse.

I have the G5, which is basicaly a wired version and it is so much better than any previous laser mouse I have used. I was tempted by the G7, but for money reasons I got the G5.

As for keyboard it really depends on what you are really after, I like to play PC games but rather than getting a specialised gaming keyboard I opted for a cheap but chearful Logitech keyboard. Personally I don't use things like macros so have no need for extra buttons etc.
Check out the Saitek Eclipse, Logitech G15 and Logitech G11 though for extra button options.

Im using a raxer copperhead mouse after using a logitech mx1000.

It took a bit of getting used to being cabled up again but its a brilliant mouse if you serious about gaming the razers rock it has sensitivity changing on the fly using buttons on the side of the mouse so in bf2 you can switch the sensitivty depending on weapon and class

ive got the keyboard from an mx700, and an mx1000 i bought cos the mx700 broke. tbh, gaming keyboards arent worth it imo, a couple of friends have g15s or z boards, and i cant tell a noticeable difference between those and a decent normal one. I'm very much a macros = cheating kind of guy though.

As far as mice go, in bf theres not a lot of point, the only thing i find sensitivity adjustment useful in is cs, which is too twitch for me anyway, so i stopped playing.

I can't comment on the mice, but as for a keyboard, I love my G15. I got it recently, and it is worth it just for the fun of designing little screens with LCD Studio.

i love my g15 too also the g5 or g7 are both top notch mice although feel they are priced a little too high for my liking but if they are christmas presents go for them

well speaking as a g15 + g7 owner, i cant recomend them enough, only negative on the g7 front is the batterys dont last that long, but having said that u do have 2, so when one is dead u can swap them over
