When you microwave a jacket potato, do you stab it all over?
I'm not sure what role the stabbing/piercing does?
do i just have to do it a couple of times or should i aim for piercing it evenly all over? |

Re: When you microwave a jacket potato, do you stab it all over?
I thought it was to stop the potato exploding as the moisture in it turns to a vapour during the cooking process. Ergo I would stab it all over, but not so much you end up with a pulp.

Don't listen to them! Stabbing a potato takes all the flavour away! Leave it alone, and cook it at full power for at least 30 minutes!

^ nooo
Stab all over, turn halfway through, or a few times to stop the bottom getting all hard.

Re: When you microwave a jacket potato, do you stab it all over?
You're aiming for a nice even stabbing so that the steam is released evenly while it cooks, or you'll gbet exploded potato and not much else
if doing it in the microwave, turn it a few times while it's cooking so that the bit on the bottom doesn't get all tough.
