    Norn Irish Pasties

Anyone got any good, straighforward recipies for NI Pasties

They consist of sausage meat, potato, batter and herbs
I've only found one on the web, and it had mad stuff like Nutmeg

I'm in England for a few months, and everytime I ask for a pastie supper, I get those silly Cornish ones

lol, seems like a REALLY specific thing, a Northern Irish pasty....

I'll have a look see if I can find anything for you, I don't have a recipe myself for one, so it'll be interesting to see what's different.

Well, I've not found a SINGLE Irish pasty recipe yet, except one that was named as Irish but was obviously Cornish... I have found this one which I can't help but show you all.... what a fantastic dish!!

    Drunk Squirrel

    Salt and pepper to taste
    Flour
    3 squirrels, cut in pieces
    cooking oil
    2 cans of beer
    cumin

Salt, pepper and flour the squirrel as for frying chicken. Fry in deep hot oil until brown. Drain on paper towels. Place in a casserole dish, pour the beer over, and sprinkle with cumin. Bake, covered at 300 degrees F for at least 2 hours or until tender. Freezes. Serves 4. You'll never have a tough squirrel with this recipe, and the beer gravy is out of this world. Seriously, I think chicken might be a good substitute for squirrel (that is, if you are fresh out.)

    Top, eh?

There's a company called TS Foods in NI looking at exporting to England thru Waitrose I think

Here's there tag for the pastie
"Fresh potato with prime minced pork blended with sixteen secret spices and wrapped in a crispy tempura coating"

and this is the only one I can find - any one want to risk trying this out

    http://www.scottish-and-irish-recipe...stiesupper.htm

    Pastie Supper Ingredients

    1lb. Ground Beef
    1 cup Bread Crumbs
    1 Teaspoonful Salt
    1/2 Teaspoonful Pepper
    2 Teaspoonful Worcestershire Sauce
    1/2 Cup Cold Water
    1 teaspoon Accent spice
    1 teaspoon Coriander
    half teaspoon Nutmeg
3 Medium Size Potatoes (Boiled, mashed and cooled).

    Method
Mix all of the above ingredients and add
    1 Dash Parsley Flakes
1 Medium Size Onion [Diced and sautéed]

    Batter
    I/2 Cup Flour
    1/2 Teaspoonful Salt
    1/2 Cup of Milk

heard of pudding suppers, sausage suppers, battered sausage suppers, pie suppers, hamburger suppers, mars bar suppers, pizza suppers, fish suppers and haggis suppers, but not a pastie supper :s sorry...
