    deep fried omelette..BAD idea..+more

Ok me and my housemates [all 2nd year computing students] got bored tonite...so we decided to experiment with our cheeep deep fat fryer

First we tried home made chips, that worked nicely

inspired by are excellent chips, we moved on.

Next was cookie dough...all that happened was it melted a bit..but meh it still tasted good so that was judged a success

We figured that chips and cookies were unhealthy tho, so strawberries were next. They turned out to be excellent, they caramelised nicely and tasted very sweet. We liked them so fried them all before moving on.

Ice cream...yeah this was a bad idea, just kinda melted in about 2seconds

For some reason Crackers were next, they just kind of absorbed the oil..nothing exciting but its a convienient way to eat oil

Now heres the really bad idea. A very basic omelette...

2 eggs, and a block of some kind of cheese. We basically threw them in the fryer and shut the lid then ran, cos it fizzed like mad and spat at us. 5 mins later we returned to find it simmering away nicely, so we opened it up and took it out. See the pics from the link below to examine our results

    http://www2.guytp.org/pics/Food/DeepFriedOmlette/

I was the *lucky* one who got to taste it..it was very....eggy..and cheesey...Not the best ive ever tasted

Microwave came next, in it went, but all that happened is the cheese melted more boring really

needless to say a new fryer is now required a trip to asda tomorrow it will be methinks

    Gotta love student life

    OK. Very strange .

But how did you kill the fryer? Did you put it in the microwave or something .

Me thinks we should ban Spud from the cooking section of this forum until he shows us proof he's done some clean.

    Bleddy Students... Oh Hang on...

PS When our neighbours in Nott graduated and had to move out of their house, on the last day they cooked every edible thing in the house, ate what they wanted, and then everything, Food, cutlery, crockery, /everything/ straight into the dustbin. Saved washing up and arguing over who takes some crappy set of assorted plates home.

They told me I was gullible ... and I believed them.

Hang on, I've just looked at the pics, his cooker looks pretty clean to me?

You should see my coffee mug. 4+ cups a day, 5 days a week for the last 14 months, it's not been washed once.

What you dont even rinse it . I'd say if you keep on like that for another few months there wont be any room for coffee in the mug what with all the accumulated dirt etc .
