French theme
My better half and I will be honeymooning in Paris this August. So we thought to get in the mood we would have a french food themed night.
We will have a starter, main course and pudding For the starter I thought of french onion soup But I am stuck for a main and dessert Any suggestions pointers would be welcome thanks.

Coq au vin or boeuf bourguignon are really traditional french dishes, very earthy and country side, in keeping with the onion soup
For puddig, creme brulee even though it has been every internationalised now, chocolate mousse is always a classic.

How about a nice Andouillette saussage?
![]() Seriously though, Salad Nicoise is a nice starter. IMO you also can't beat a decent steak with some authentic frites .

Onion Soup is a must! Best I had was in a mountain restaurant and you would be hard pushed to find any liquid. It was essentially a bowl of sweated onions, and gourgeous.
For afters (sorry can't say "sweet" or "pudding") Tart Tatin and cream. Main course I'd cook a Vege Tartiflette. Made one the other day after a visit to the "French Market". I just love cheese and that soupy Reblechon flavour is wonderful.

Well it depends on the region you want, if you want some warming and fulling meals, a good old raclette or as Clingy said, a tartiflette is gorgeous, if you can pick up some Reblechon > some nice potatoes onions, white wine etc (check the web (google)) to find a recipe!
Otherwise i'm sure some websites like taste.co.uk should give some inspiration, i.e. they normally have the choice of choosing the type of cuisine! Ian ![]() Mac fancier > white macbook base spec .................. CS: muddyfirebang

Try this for starters
French Onion Soup Then this: Boeuf Bourguignon and follow it up with this: Raspberry Crème Brulee Last edited by Nick; 06-05-2005 at 02:17 PM.. |

Or for dessert, my favourite, crepes!
If cars had followed the same developmental path as computers, a Rolls Royce would cost £60, get a million miles per gallon and explode once a year, killing everyone inside.

I agree with steak and frites! however try filet steak topped with dijon mustard and the flamed with brandy at the end. Mmm. With frites of course. A nice pomerol todrink with it perhaps, of something from around macon,a nice fruity red!
