build one
![]() A few bricks and a metal sheet and your sorted. That way you can make it to the size you want and also make it fancy or as basic as you want. There is an upside in that you'll be grilling from ear to ear everytime you use it as you built it yourself ![]() |

Yes guys, lets all convince Mr C that gas is for wimps... real men cook over charcoal..
ANd it does give a much better flavour and cooking temperature than gas ever does... AND he needn't spend £250 to get a top-line charcoal bbq... AND bags of charcoal are cheaper than gas bottles... AND gas doesn't give you that thrill of dousing the whole thing with petrol, flicking a match at it and running like hell... |

Charcoal is the way to go, make the food taste much better, i find with gas your always get a slighty plastic taste, and you dont get all the smells, plus, if you have a raging BBQ with charcoal, you can cook your breakfast on it the next day as long as it downt rain overnight
Summertime is here and I rapidly turn into the BBQ king, i'll post some recipies for BBQ'd delights i have come up with when i get chance (Honey + Yogurt chicken, chillied steak, cheeseburgers with a difference, and my fave, rosemary and lemon samon) As for the type of BBQ, get a oldish metal barrel, chop it in half, weld on some legs add a hinge, and its sorted (also good for roasting sides of pork), or build one. Nothing like the smell of a BBQ on a sunny afternoon, you just dont get that with gas. Joel |

lol.....
Right..... I have nowhere to build a bbq, so hence want STURDY moveable one, it doesn't need to move, but something that won't fall over when you sneeze would be good. Find me a decent charcoal one then please, one that won't rust through in our weather. A decent cover would be good too, so I can cover it up to keep it nice. Something that is large enough to cook steaks, tuna, and loads of burgers/sausages etc for 4-6 people. |

Yep, I'm building the mother of all BBQ's because we have a lovely country cottage and have friends around for BBQ's/monster pissups all summer. Never done it before but it will cost way less than £250 and if it goes tit's up, i could pay someone less than that to do it for me.
Charcoal V's Gas? Are you mad? Charcoal everytime for that real taste and BBQ expereience. Thats like having instat coffee when you can have te real deal! Maybe I should do a project log on this forum like people do with PC mods? Oh, I went to a BBQ last night. They got one for £14.99 from homebase. Did the job nicely with a spitroaster included. awsome value, even if it only lasts one summer. |
