    Falafel - Bulk Buy?

I normally cook my own (from a Madhur Jaffrey recipe) and have never found better recipe, take-away or ready made ones.

But I need to try and find them ready made in bulk.

The reason : - My daughter is a Vege, but eats far too much cheese. So I am trying to get her some high protein foods that have vegetable fats rather than animal fats. Now I can cook falafel, but it's a right PITA and I just dont have the time to do them in the quantity I want.

I've spent a good hour or so in a fruitless internet search. Anyone help? They must be ready made for oven warming. I dont want any of those "mixes".

The mix I get is really good from my local chinese supermarket - or do you not want the hassle of getting the fryer out ?

I think he wants to fry bulk amounts and then reheat them in the oven. You could always ask your local friendly kebab shop.

The making of the mix is not such a problem for me, I just hate the frying bit. Don't have a deep fat fryer (and not allowed to have one) so generally I shallow fry them which takes ages and is really quite messy. Nearest Kebab shop that does falafel must be 30 miles away .

Although we are testing some supermarket ones they really are not what I am after. There appears to be two types of Falafel. The way I (or MJ) does them is to used soaked dried chick peas uncooked, whereas the ones I dislike use cooked chick peas.

Why are you not allowed a deep fat fryer? They are relatively healty as the felafel will not absorb as much fat as one shallow fried because of the protective, crisp crust that will form quickly. Mmm. They are also very safe now, especially when used properly. We have one for frying bengali samosas and aubergine.
