Need recipe for chocolate cake with chocolate icing
Want a recipe for a really good chocolate cake with the chocolate frosted icing,
my g/f birthday is in a few days and she really loves chocolate so I thought I'd make her a good cake. Need to impress so it has to be better than good. Any variations/suggestions. would a cake with melted chocolate inside be too over the top? would also like suggestions on best chocolate to get.
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

Dont use "cooking chocolate" for a start - its orrible stuff
![]() The best way of stuffing something with chocolate I'd think woudl be to make whats called a "ganache" ( Nick will shoot me for my poor spelling here ) its basically a chocolate cream so rich you can feel your arteries clogging with every bite ![]() Puddings / Cakes are imo one of the harder parts of a meal to cooke , as they often rely on more precice reactions to create the correct flavour/ texture , so you have to be a little more prescice and carefull with the recepie than with other meals. a bit of a google hunt came up with these... ( I wish there was a babel fish to translate US recepies though ) http://www.apricot.com/Food/DeathByChocolate.html http://www.cacaoweb.net/deathbychocolate.html http://www.deliasmith.co.uk/deliaatl...9261&topicid=7 http://www.sallys-place.com/food/col...oc_ganache.htm http://www.joyofbaking.com/ganache.html hope those help

A good chocolate to use for cooking (that's not cooking chocolate) is Tescos Value Dark chocolate. 50p for 200g! (makes great chocolate fondue)
The BBC is usually good for recipes: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/da...tef_6398.shtml http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes

Does she actually like chocolate cake? My girlfriend loves chocolate, but wont go near cake.
Best suggestion i could come up with for a pudding is creme brulee, looks a lot harder to make than it actually is. Otherwise go the whole hog, try and make something extreme, chocolate baked alaska would be sweet, and you could even put candles in it.

If its something special then get some green and black's. Either the plain stuff or the maya gold. Stick some sort of orange flavour in the cake too if you use the maya gold. Mmm.

I made a chocolate football pitch cake for my son on his 11th Birthday....just normal sponge mix with good quality cocoa powder and used dark chocolate for the frosting yummmmmm
See if you can get some funky shaped tins to bake it into, and instead of chocolate frosting on the top melt chocolate buttons over it yummmmmmm My Birthday on Thursday.. wish someone was making me a chocolate cake
