    Sugared coated peanuts

I was in africa, as you do. and stumbled across this campsite about 6 hours from anywhere and they had these peanuts covered in sugar. THey were honestly the nicest thing i ave ever tried. Does anyone know if you can buy these in the UK or, know how to coat the peanuts in sugar without it falling off.

    Cheers all

Umm... maybe use a sugar solution and then dry 'em in the oven? Try a few and see what happens.

    *bump*

we make cashews with like paprika and some chilli powder at home. Just kinda heat em in a fryin pan with a little oil and salt. Obviously nowhere near as good as the above, but its nice, and its quick...

    answer this person!!!!!!

i dont actually make em most the time, cause i manage to burn em. But indeed, butter and sugar as you'd expect also works well. probably a bit of salt in that, and no need for much butter ... but lots of sugar!!!

Of course there's always pepper too but then that's just a whole different thread.

Tesco's do a type of sugar coated peanuts. You should find them in the crisps/snacks/peanuts isle. They are called honey roasted peanuts, but you can't taste or see the honey, can only taste/see the sugar coating on the peanuts.

    They are lovely.

Occasionally I see those 'illegal street stalls' on Westminster Bridge selling 'caramel peanuts'? and its smells so nice when you walk past them. Are they the same as sugar coated peanuts?

    Honey roasted peanuts rule!

googled it and the first thing i saw was this:

    HONEY ROASTED PEANUTS

    1 c. sugar
    1 c. water
    2 c. raw peanuts

Mix together in skillet or pan. Cook on medium heat until all liquid is gone. Spread on cookie sheet and bake at 300 degrees for 30 minutes. Stir at 15 minutes

Dont see where the honey part comes in in that recipe, but nonetheless.... anyone fancy giving it a try and telling me how it goes?
