Breakfast mushrooms
I've been trying to think how your typical breakfast mushrooms are cooked, y'know, the ones you get as a breakfast meal, whole cooked. Are they fried? If so, how are they best done? I'm trying to figure out what the best way to cook them is so they're uber tasty. How long do they take? Reason being is because I want to do egg, beans, mushrooms etc.
Any ideas? |

Agreed with above.
Another nice way is sauteed in some decent butter with lemon and cracked black pepper

It depends....
If using HUGE full mushrooms which I intend to fill with various goodies then I grill them, If I chop them, I then throw them in the frying pan on a medium/high heat without oil as the moisture in the mushrooms tends to stop them sticking.

Breakfast mushrooms
Leave them largish and put in a small pan with a large dod o'butter, put heat on fairly low and leave them alone apart from a couple of shoogles. Five minutes or so (while your doing the eggs usually does it) and your sorted. Last edited by kushtibari; 09-12-2005 at 10:38 PM.. |
