Cannon Camera Comparision Ixus 70/75 Required

There are a ton of photographers in here who I'm sure can offer practical advice rather than dry statistics and figured.

I have a cannon Ixus 50 that has now died and taken its last photo, the cost to repair is reasonable enough to consider a replacment.

I've been looking at the Cannon Ixus 70 and 75, simple because I've had good experiences with the cannon I've got. (I'm not a good photographer but this is easy and has good results).

I'm looking for something as small, thin and light as possible that is easy to use and takes good shots. I'd like a good resolution as I somtimes use the images for desktop wallpapers.

The Cannon Ixus 40 was the smallest and lightest camera I've seen and considered swapping my ixus 50 for one for that basis, however both models are now old and the ixus 70 and 75 appear to be the current models.

what are people in the knows opinion of these cameras, from what I'm reading the 75 is slightly better but also bigger so from my view I'd be better off with the 70 as I wouldn't notice the difference but may appriciate the slightly smaller and lighter size.

I'd appriciate opinions on these models and if apporpriate suggest an alternative if you think you know of a more suited make and model.

    Thanks for your input.

no experience of those two models, but i just bought a Panasonic FX-10, which is a realy nice little camera, its around the same price bracket and has a load of great features and is very easy to use, and can also be used to a fully manual standard.

Thing that made me buy it the large lcd screen and brilliant quality photos.

    Looks interesting, seems very reasonable.

I'm a little dubious about straying from what I've had positive experience of (cannon), however I'll take a look in my local camera shop or dixons for this model then see how it lines up.

Dunno if that's any help to you, it's from a US angle but a very useful site. It's worth having a more thourough search through their site, there's tons of useful links there.
