Wireless headphones

i am planning to buy wireless headphones for the primary reason so as not to disturb my fussy neighbors. i have 2 questions:

1. how do u normally connect them wireless headphones? thru the TV's audio jack? or can you connect it thru the optical or caoxial output of your surround sound system?

2. what wireless headphones can you guys recommend? (i have a 42" Sony Bravia Full-HD TV, a small studio flat and a budget of £50-£100 maximum).

is there any specific make (sony, Senheiser,etc.) that's good as anyone else? and the one that has Li-ion batteries 'cause i heard they are supposed to be better than Nm-aH.

I used to have an awesome pair of AKG wireless headphones that lastest me years. The sound was superb. Replaced them with a set of Sony's which were most disappointing and died after 3 months.

My daughter has a set of Sennheiser wireless headphones that have been very good but not as comfortable as the AKG's, so if I can't get another set of those, I'll have to go for Sennheiser.

may i know what model are the AKG and Sennheiser that you're using? any other things you can tell about them?

The Sennheiser headphones are the RS110's - good but I wish I'd spent the extra on the rechargeable option for her.

The AKG headphones, unfortunately, I don't have any more as when they broke I threw them out. Unfortunately AKG wireless headphones have become hard to aquire in the UK as the market seems to be dominated by the Sennheiser brand. However, I live in hope as the sound and comfort of the AKG's is significantly better (IMO) than either Sony or Sennheiser.

I've also got a set of Sennheiser wireless headphones which are spot on for listening to music when moving around the house and trying not to annoy everyone else in the house (who think my music all sounds the same )

The range on them is great and the battery lasts all day if you want to use it for that long

Are you planning on taking them out of the house? For a portable option I just picked up the Motorola S9 headset for use with my phone (or Ipod should I eventually go for one!) and possibly to connect to my home PC system when I'm there. They are bluetooth so low(ish) power, rechargable built in (mini usb) and sound quality is great!

I had somePhilips wireless head phones, but the were just to bulky for casual wear really.

Yes it does, "Rechargeable NiMH batteries included (size: AAA)"
It also comes with a stand for them which is also a charging base. You don't have to plug them in the contacts are made via 2 metal strips on the headband...so they are always charged when you want to use them.

Also "Range of up to 100 metres" yay

Self discharge of NiMH in a month is about 30%
Self discharge for Li-ION in a month is about 10%

So yes Li-ION is better. Also costs more, but has about the same life cycle.

With these headphones there is no need for Li-ION. If they are the stand when not in use they will be ready to use as soon as you lift them off and flick the on switch. Heck, you could leave them months off the stand and they would still work for hours..

Sennheisers also sound nice

hmmm...interesting. i know you've been mentioning the Sennheiser RS range but would you look at Sony's? sound-wise, durability,etc.

I wouldn't touch sony again. There are much better sounding headphones out there. I had some MDR-V700DJ sony headphones. Which were sonys flagship DJ headphones when I got them, but I gave them away as I wasn't impressed when I used them against some sennheiser headphones. I mostly use a set of surround sound wired headphones now as the cable on them is long enough for all my room plus all my equiptment is running through my pc.

Ive been using a set of sennheiser rs85 headphones for years now and they are great. The battery life is really good on them (I have played 8 hour stints on games using them and although I had to swap the battery pack over a couple of times there was always enough charge to keep going
