| Snapshot of current storage costs Just for my own interest i've taken a quick look at the cost of storage, using Scan's media section as my source. All rated in my 'Pence Per Gig' ppg rating. ![]() CD-R 100 discs (700MB) for £8.17 = 11.7 ppg DVD-R 100 discs (of 4.7GB) for £12.33 = 2.6 ppg DVD Dual Layer 10 discs (of 8.5GB) for £4.70 = 5.3 ppg Blu-Ray 10 discs (of 25GB) for £29.36 = 11.8 ppg. <-- Look! Blu-Ray is as cost effective as CD!! And for comparison, Samsung 640GB hard drive £45.70 = 7.1 ppg. 8GB USB Stick for £10.30 = 129 ppg. System as shown, plus: Akasa 965 HSF. Griffin Powermate that pulsates blue! Solid oak computer desk. Diamondback Razor. Logitech media keyboard. Western Dig HD Media Player. An AC-S1 R2 on the 3870. Netgear DG834N router. Acer Aspire One netbook. Creative I-Trigue 3450 driven by an Audigy 2. External 160GB and 500GB hard drives. 1 happy me. 1 not so happy me's wife. My Hexus Trust |

| Re: Snapshot of current storage costs My last PC purchase was actually for 4 x 500 Gb Hard-drives for storage at £23.50 each ![]() So that works out at a whopping 0.047 ppg ---- Why do Computer Scientists get Halloween and Christmas mixed up? Because Oct. 31 = Dec. 25. |

How does it work - are the SATA hard drives sticking out of the front? Do you push to eject? And do you have to turn the PC off, or can you hot swap (and if so, is that OS dependant)? Do you need a different caddy for each hard drive, or do you slide them in naked (ooo errr matron)? Tell me more! System as shown, plus: Akasa 965 HSF. Griffin Powermate that pulsates blue!
