| http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/08...iwan_mem_card/ Wanted to post this info, but searched Hexus - and this thread already exists. The original post's link is more comprehensive, but tReg might summarise it better. One thing, if the claimed "120MBps" (rising to 300, according to fuddam's source,) is true, then I'd be delighted. I think this will help people like me who'd, ideally, want to take a HD Camcorder away for the weekend (then "edit out" the bits I don't want). I will likely eed more than one battery pack, though... |

Still expensive though. Maybe this new technology will be cheaper than SD to produce, and result in lower prices. We'll have to wait and see. |

It's like when SATA-3 drives start appearing. SATA-3 won't magically make drives cheaper or faster, it's just a new version of the same protocal used to transfer the data between drive and controller. This is the same thing. And yes a 2TB SD card would be horrifically expensive just now, but they can't make them, so don't worry about it. Eventually 2TB cards will be available, and their price when they are released will be about the same as a top of the line 64GB card now. This is exactly the same as hard drives. When they were released 1TB drives were about £200. Now 2TB drives are starting to appear they are coming in at about £200. |
