People may complain about high subscription costs, but at least Sky are on the button with implementing technology people want.

Unless you already have Sky Multiroom or Sky Broadband unlimited, it's an extra £9.75 per month to get the online channels (although Sky news is free).

Personally, considering I have the top tier TV package and pay something like £60 per month already, don't really see the incentive!

Are you absolutely sure about that? When I spoke to Parry I'm sure he said the online service would available at no extra cost. But it was noisy in there... maybe I didn't hear properly..?

it would be great if it applied to anyone with sky, rather than only sky customers.

i'm on virgin, i pay for sky already through virgin, why should i have to pay to receive the same channels twice.

It still misses the point - Sky need to provide the means to add their service as a tuner for MC itself. MC is infinitely more capable than their horrifically retarded boxes (which is part of the reason I dumped them). The interweb is useless at peak times, which coincides with when I watch TV, and so this is the only solution that's viable for many.

In the same way that plenty of TV shows you see on multiple channels. You 'pay' multiple times.

You can now pay multiple times for the different delivery mediums, rather than just different channels for the same show.

Not too much of a fan of streaming video tbh......I recently watched the first episode of s2 of "Lie to me" via skyplayer and had to switch it off half way through due to the jerkiness of it.....and thats on a 16MB ADSL line...

The infrastructure just isn't ready for it yet IMO....and that's just standard definition.

Yes. It's on their FAQ on the site for existing sky customer subscribers if you can ever find it (it's burried quite deep). Unless you have multiroom or broadband unlimited, it's extra.

Didn't Microsoft recently come to an agreement with the major providers in the US, enabling CableCard in non-OEM builds? I'd be happy with something like that, a legal solution, so I can build a replacement for my SkyHD box - had to disable time-shifting altogether, performance was severly hampered with it constantly recording.

Sadly my internet connection won't handle niceties like this. It's enough waiting for a podcast to download, without sitting watching buffer animations. Want fibre or a new landline first.
