    Cheap but Good sounding Speakers

    Hi,

I want some Speakers that are preferably under £20-30 that sound good. Its for playin music while at uni so they have to go relativly loud aswell with out sounding distorted etc. Will occasionally be used for playing games and watchin Movies. Im looking at 2.1 setups atm any suggestion? Many Thanks

I've got some Logitech X530s which are the 5.1 what mp3c is pointing to. They arn't too bad looking and have plenty of ooomph. I hook it up to the xbox quite a lot and it really does the job well.

Had some other Logitechs before that and was very happy: I would recommend them.

Any sub £50 Creative speakers are pretty decent considering the price.

Just get a pair of logi's creatives, or altecs for that money. To be totaly honest nothing for that money is really going to sound good, its just a case of minimising the bad things, like a totaly lacking bass, mid or high, distortion even at low levels, terrible stereo imaging etc.

I used a pair of Technics speakers I already had, and bought the cheapest active speakers PC World could offer (forget the speakers in em, it's the amp you need). Wired the Technics speakers to a 3.5mm jack, bypassed the headphone resistors in the cheapo amp, and plugged in. Tadaa, decent sound for not much £££. Maximum power is only a couple of Watts (probably the equivalent of 16W in cheapo HiFi terms) but audio quality is very decent indeed. (In the cheapo amplified speakers it's always the speaker unit that lets the device down, not the amplifier)

I got some £12 packard bell ones. They do the job. Unless you're an audiophile or something, then these should do. I don't see anything really wrong with them appart from the fact they're only 2.1.

I have some 4gamers ones I paid £150 for years ago, 5.1. The bass is incredibly loud, but the speakers aren't great for the PC, and a few months ago the rear left speaker went dead (well, not the speaker.. something to do with the connection I think).

Bought some Creative 7.1 T7900, refurbished off eBay the other day - should have them by Monday/Tuesday. Then shall be selling these old ones!.

Don't know if you are gonna read this but OMG Arcam alpha 7 and MS20is for £60, thats gonna sound a lot better than any £100 SUb/Sat combo, I used to Sell that partnership for around £400 as a main hifi base
